Advertisement Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 Hi michali, Take a look here Giraffe. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
giordano Posted January 3, 2010 Share #2 Posted January 3, 2010 I wish I'd done that! Beautiful, life-like light and a seemingly lonely giraffe (I presume there were several others out of shot at left). Maybe leave a little more grass beneath her/his feet, and crop a bit off the right hand side? Impossible to be sure from the small image, but I wonder if the USM and/or sharpening is a touch overdone.

farnz Posted January 3, 2010 Share #6 Posted January 3, 2010 My, what a back yard you have, Mike! I like the colours and the clouds in particular although I can see a lighter area around the giraffe's head and neck either from dodging or sharpening perhaps? Pete. michali Posted January 4, 2010 Author Share #7 Posted January 4, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) John, Jockele, Doc, Paul & Pete- Thank you for the comments and feedback, much appreciated. I agree it does look over sharpened, even though I didn't sharpen this shot. Could be the contrast I played with in postp which makes it look over sharpened. The light area around the head comes from trying to remove 2 irritatingly large blobs of sensor oil / dust. All the best for a healthy & peaceful 2010
leicamann Posted January 4, 2010 Share #8 Posted January 4, 2010 Lovely.. I would say that the image is leaning towards the cyan and green side, so many of the "other subtleties" that lie nearer to the red and magenta spectrum are lost. Thanks for sharing Cheers, JRM

Thanks for sharing Cheers, JRM Thanks for the comments. I'm going to have a go at it again. I really battled to get the colour right. We've had a great deal of rain and the place is exploding in green. I had to desaturate the greens it looked too artificial. I have found though that late afternoon light can be tricky to deal with on digital under certain conditions, this is one of these instances.
jaapv Posted January 4, 2010 Share #10 Posted January 4, 2010 It might do well in black and white. Basically the colour adds nothing to the content.
