My Mum, thinking about my Dad just before he had to go into hospital to have his shoulder joint replaced, having dislocated and broken it slipping on the ice last week. I had become appalled by some of the shots which were being posted across the photo forums and, despite being absolutely awful, were receiving glowing praise. I thought that if we opened up a place to get these photos out of our collective systems (for one month only) then we could, from now on perhaps, raise the bar a little. I started a sister thread on critique, suggesting that rather than just give meaningless praise, or ignore shots completely, we could try to be more honest. This has attracted a rewarding amount of positive response. Please be advised that normal service will be resumed here, in Barnack's Monthly, from the 1st of February; so do make the most of the opportunity to show your snaps here and after that date be prepared to face advisory comment from we, the people. As "contre-jour" went down so very well a couple of months ago, I'm considering a reprise of that subject but perhaps with a wider remit- what do you think, folks? btw; thanks for your splendid contributions over the past months.
