Pophoto Posted December 30, 2009 Share #1 Posted December 30, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Okay, so BLING may not be the most accurate of words. I have owned the M9 for a week now, and like many buying a new camera, comes a certain amount of NEEDY essentials accessories. Cutting to the chase, I "needed" to buy the following for my M9 starter kit, minus camera and lens of course: Leica leather half case (too much choice from Luigi) Giottos SP8250 screen protector Billingham Hadly Small Bag (also a DOMKE F-5XB, but wasn't fully happy with the padding, but still a decent bag) 2nd battery (Oh boy this thing runs out fast... either I'm chimpping crazy, or I'm having fun, both isn't a option) Sandisk 16GB SDHC extreme..... almost forgot this one! Most of which I got to learn from this forum (Yes, I blame you ), and essential for me! So what was essential for you, minus the camera and lenses. I know there are shutter releases, concave and convex both large and small, I realised the more I pressing the shutter, I'm reaching in too far, what's your experience? Filters (I bought the UV filters, although i use ND and polarizers on my DSLR), I guess this is no different... but some maybe happier to achieve more dynamic range on the fly and others prefer to carry less and tweak in LR. I ordered a ThumbsUp.... I know, you're thinking LeicaSyndrome, but I also have NikonSyndrome too. Seriously though, I know we all beleive in the artistry of the photog creating beautiful images, but I was shocked at my own lengths to make the whole experience right for me, and the camera&lens alone wasn't enough.... frown all you want, but please share Did I forget anything? scc Posted December 30, 2009 Share #2 Posted December 30, 2009 I've bling'ed mine a bit since I got it last week, though many of the items are still en route I have purchased: Extra battery Thumbs up EP1 ACMAXX LCD cover Black Softrelease Black Leica logo to replace red one I don't think I'll get a half case (but if I did it would be a Luigi), but I did put my A&A strap on from my old M6 (which will probably see a lot less use now). JeffreyTotaro Posted December 30, 2009 Share #4 Posted December 30, 2009 I had some 'bling' from the M8, but I did get a smaller AA bag, the 7100. I added a Zeiss 21mm Finder for the 21 Lux (I used the CV 28 on the M8) New cards, 4GB over 2Gb for M8 Black dot A third battery after 2 quit quickly in the cold last week. Thumbs-Up New Luigi case, this time cut-out for the Thumbs-up and without his grip, just the bump. Have fun!

ILC32 Posted December 30, 2009 Share #8 Posted December 30, 2009 A couple of people have mentioned that they have obtained a black dot to replace the red one. Can anyone one tell me where I can get a black dot? My two LHSA M6s have the black dot, and it would be nice to match the M9 to them. Thanks,

James R Posted December 30, 2009 Share #10 Posted December 30, 2009 WTF, here goes: 1. Thumbs Up 2. 35 Cron, 50 Lux, 90 Cron 3. Luigi half case and strap 4. Courier Ware bag, but will look at others also 5. Black Soft release (he sent me an orange bug for free) I like it and it looks pretty cool with the original Leica insignia; so maybe I won't get the black dot. 6. LCD cover 7. 3 8g SandDisk Extreme cards 8. An SD card reader 9. To be determined So, my 7K M9 investment cost has risen another 8+ K.
