Guest stnami Posted December 29, 2009 Share #9 Posted December 29, 2009 ...so it makes the S2 a bit like the M8 that was rangefinder of the year........... most omitted that there were no other rangefinders being made at that stage.

nhabedi Posted December 31, 2009 Share #11 Posted December 31, 2009 Love how folks forget the second and third line in this stuff MEDIUM FORMAT CAMERA SYSTEM OF THE YEAR – Phase One P65+ PRO DIGITAL SLR OF THE YEAR – Nikon D3s Well, it's certainly "better" to be the camera of the year than a camera of the year in a specific sector. I'm sure Nikon or Phase One would have loved to be in the first spot. That doesn't make the S2 better or worse, but it's good for Leica's marketing department. batmobile Posted December 31, 2009 Share #12 Posted December 31, 2009 The S2 will be wonderful.... when I can get a used one in about five years

I've no doubt that on a Phase One forum they'd be concentrating on the camera that won "Medium Format Camera of the Year".
Guest guy_mancuso Posted December 31, 2009 Share #14 Posted December 31, 2009 At these prices for these systems no serious buyer really cares and that goes for Leica or Phase. It's behind the words that count. But hey enjoy the press. Relax Steve obviously no one can post a joke around here. tashley Posted January 1, 2010 Share #17 Posted January 1, 2010 "The camera that best refined or redefined photography in 2009." Unfortunately for fan-boys here, the quote applied to the Nikon. Just curious, does it ever occur to you (and others like you) that calling people you hardly know, if at all, 'fanboys' is a) just rude and therefore bad manners and indicative of a sense on your part that you are cleverer than other people ?? stephengilbert Posted January 1, 2010 Share #18 Posted January 1, 2010 I love it that the term "fanboy" has achieved such a derogatory meaning that it's considered an insult. Tim, whether or not the post you objected to was rude, I think it's pretty clear that a fanboy or two has visited these threads. Pete's post doesn't necessarily suggest that he's cleverer than other all people, though perhaps it might suggest he's cleverer than some. As always in these cases where someone decides to get all publicly judgemental of other peoples' interests in photographic equipment I found myself searching for examples of his photographic ouevre. Most interesting.
Gentleman Villain Posted January 1, 2010 Share #20 Posted January 1, 2010 Where does fanboy come from anyway? Is it a sports term or something? I've never heard it uttered once in a studio during the whole time I've worked in commercial photography. The most common derogitory put-down term I've heard used is "hack."
