Advertisement Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 Hi milyovsky, Take a look here Saving files. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Pophoto Posted December 26, 2009 Share #2 Posted December 26, 2009 dng (uncompressed), this keeps everything (data wise) and then raw file converter like Adobe Lightroom. However, each file is larger at about 35mb each.
jaapv Posted December 26, 2009 Share #3 Posted December 26, 2009 I keep the original DNG uncompressed as " negative" and the images that I postprocess I save as full TIFF, aRGB, 16 bits as working files to pull prints, or web, etc from.
jackperk Posted January 5, 2010 Share #4 Posted January 5, 2010 Jaap, Why sRGB? jp
jaapv Posted January 5, 2010 Share #5 Posted January 5, 2010 sRGB is the "dumb web" limited color profile, also sometimes used in printing. Saving and processing should be done in aRGB or similar. The transition from a higher colorspace to a smaller one is lossy and destructive. It is not possible to restore the original color space from sRGB, so once you are in there you are stuck. 250swb Posted January 5, 2010 Share #6 Posted January 5, 2010 Naturally I save my .dng files, but from then on I save as .TIFF 16 bit in aRGB like Jaap does. That is my base file for all other resizing and post processing. Sometimes I change to sRGB for web JPEGs but I think its not often I see a difference in colour between the two, and I mostly post in web forums in B&W anyway. I also submit to online agencies and they want JPEGs in aRGB as well, so it simplifies my workflow keeping it all the same. Steve
