Leica III F RO

Presuming you mean a camera with the serial number 524589 being sold together with a non-Leica 85mm lens, etc I have no idea what RO could be.

However, the serial suggests the camera began life as a IIIc and was converted at some point to a IIIf black dial (see the pictures in the listing). The obvious thing is to ask the seller! ;)

From the s/n it ought to be a postwar IIIc, but from the pics looks like a IIIf... a modification not uncommon... but the sync numbers look black... so a BD , not a RD... probably the seller is a bit unprecise (I surfed a little their site... they list a Hexanon 57 1,2 as "Leica" ... my impression is that it is a normal SLR lens; they sell also an item that could be very tasty for some collectors... the Zeiss Biogon 75mm for Linhof 9x12, which is really a rarity... no idea if this Prague shop is a trustable dealer)

Btw... I notice the dealer often adds the suffix "RO" to some items.... may be it has some significate in Czech... or could be "Return Option"?...

I am certain that the 'RO' has no significance in regards to the camera being sold, other than some kind of reference for the seller. All his auctions have the letters 'RO' in the auction title.

By the way, he is a Russian, located in Prague. At least from the information I could gather from his auction listings...... So, as Philipp mentions, the 'RO' could indicate that the camera came from his source in Russia but, I find that not very probable.

Probably a misprint or misreading of RD.

Has nothing to do with RD, all his other auctions, including R lenses, Som Berthiot lenses etc. are marked RO in the auction title. As far as I remember, lenses did not have either black or red dial synchronization scales..... ;)
