erl Posted December 6, 2006 Share #2 Posted December 6, 2006 Thorsten, It is interesting that Phase 1's part in the M8 saga is somewhat flawed along with the M8 marketers efforts. It would seem that more effort is put into marketing spin than in actual delivery. Many M8 units, with the as yet uncorrected faults, were delivered with incomplete C1 software packages. Mine was one of those packages, delivered minus the activation key for C1. I emailed Leica and phoned my dealer with the facts. Leica have not responded at all, either to me or the dealer who made similar overture to the Leica importer. Finally, I was able to activate the software with a key from a Sandisk Supreme card offer, no thanks to Leica or Phase One. So such garbage as published by PopPhoto does not wash with me. It is all SPIN. For the record, I am convinced the M8 is a fantastic camera and C1 seems pretty good also, but the crap they write about them does not follow through to the consumer. Just my unaplogetic gripe for the eternal inconvenience I suffer at the hands of the employers of spin doctors. Cheers, Erl
Stevez4 Posted December 9, 2006 Share #3 Posted December 9, 2006 I could not register my C1 disk diue to an error saying my email did not match their registration email. Essentially duplicate reistration numbers? Maybe. C1 no help, telling me to contact dealer and Leica. Offered to send copy of my M8 recepit. No dice. They said they contacted Leica, no response. So my C1 will die shortly. Poor marketing judgement.
Eoin Posted December 9, 2006 Share #4 Posted December 9, 2006 Strange, I was also missing the licence key. I email'd leica in Gremany and recieved my key next working day, I did include the serial number of my body in the email. Hope you get this sorted
miboss Posted December 9, 2006 Share #5 Posted December 9, 2006 I thought I was the only one to have a C1 CD without an activation key !! Somehow, I feel better now ! Yet, this does not speak well about quality control ( or assurance as they now call it ) in Solms ! I have sent a claim to the local distributor and hope an answer by Monday. Hope they will solve it. Will keep the forum posted if positive answer. Michel Bosshard
jobe Posted December 9, 2006 Share #6 Posted December 9, 2006 Mine copy was also missing the activation code. I called Leica NJ and was given the code over the phone by the tech.
