lammaken Posted December 6, 2006 Share #4 Posted December 6, 2006 Hi Stevem7, still, the series you are doing is impressive and worth a lot. Anyways, have you done any retouch by PS or other computer software of your photos cuz I found you are fantastic in portraits and the overall tonality is great. I am a beginner of B/W photos and Leica gears. Thanks.
stevem7 Posted December 6, 2006 Author Share #5 Posted December 6, 2006 Thanks for the comments~ For these and all of my B&W shots I just scan the negatives in a Nikon coolscan V. I then open them in Photoshop and resize and apply some USM. Thats it. My biggest problem is DUST on the negatives. I may have some in my scanner as I do not see it as much when I print in the darkroom. Have fun shooting B&W! I'm loving it after many many years of digital SLR's. stevem7 Posted December 7, 2006 Author Share #7 Posted December 7, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Yes, I do everything at home. Bought some chemicals for processing film and paid $200 for a complete darkroom set to print. Using an old Omega B-8 enlarger. I'm having fun learning as my 1st film camera was my Leica which was bought 5 months ago. Up until then its been all digital. I did sell ALL of my DSLR's after I started shooting film as I connected with my M7 and Tri-X! Now it's an MP which I LOVE. Thanks Steve
fotografr Posted December 7, 2006 Share #8 Posted December 7, 2006 Going from digital to film, you know you're going against the tide. But it doesn't matter because it is really working. You're getting some dynamite images--these among them.
lammaken Posted December 8, 2006 Share #9 Posted December 8, 2006 Thanks stevem7 for sharing your work flow. Its actually happen to me as well, I've been starting photography with digital gears then fell into the abyss of film and particular B/W in two months ago. my first film camera is a Leica M3 with a 50 summilux lens. Since then, i have to selling some of my digital equipments to pay off the Leica bill....but no regret, really love it.
