scott kirkpatrick Posted January 7, 2010 Share #21 Posted January 7, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) With the exception of the collapsible 90 Elmar, none of the lenses under discussion comes within less than 5 mm of the shutter mechanism. I think the danger is that in mounting or dismounting a collapsed lens, you might scratch something on the sides of the lens cavity by not moving the lens straight in or out. The deepest lens I have is not collapsible, but a symmetric wide angle, the Canon 19/3.5 in an LTM/M adapter. I've used the 50/2.0 Summicron from the mid 1950s quite successfully in the M8. Haven't tried it yet in the M9, but I shall. It glows (a euphemism for having lots of flare) nicely. scott
