billh Posted December 5, 2006 Share #1 Posted December 5, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) These were taken with the M8 with the new sensor board (updated electronics) and firmware 1.09. I do not have an IR filter for the Noctilux or the 28f2.8ASPH so all images with those lenses are without IR filtration. In most cases, even under a mixture of lighting sources (tungsten, fluorescent, daylight, halogen) no filter was needed. I used the standard M8 profile in C1. The concert lighting presented more of a challenge, and there I found Jamie’s Chrome profile, desaturated a bit in C1, did a very good job. You can see it next to the same unfiltered image converted by the standard M8 profile. This updated firmware and profile appear to be significantly better in this regard than the original sensor board and 1.06 profile I used. The Christmas ornament is exactly that color, and in the tif and print I made of the butcher, the apron is black with no hint of magenta. That looks really good Bill for mixed lighting, surprised i am not seeing some off color here . Everything looks fairly true even the pink sweater. i am assuming this is without the cut filter? I didn’t have time to play with it in your profiles, but if it works in the generic version, it should sing in yours. What probably will happen is Leica will get things working well, then instead of people wanting you to make profiles to fix problems, they will be lobbying for profiles to give them various looks without lots of PS work. I'm not even sure they will sing with mine with the new firmware; if the camera is responding differently it may not be worth it at all!
