It slots on and rotates a little to a stop but seems very loose and this makes it difficult to locate the rectangular hood at the correct angle. There is a circular channel inside the ring which looks as though it might have held some sort of felt material to prevent looseness. Each sheet is large enough to do hundreds of filters and still have change. Then cut a strip and fit it in place on the filter. I have to report that this is actually quite hard to do successfully as it requires some precision both in cutting and in fitting but it can be done and will render your filter usable. I have done it myself. Although the felt with no glue baking is harder to fit (if you use contact cement it will be hard to avoid getting it on everything ) you may find it to be more successful in the long run as this can be more permanent. On ebay I bought a UV filter for my Summarit a few years ago, as well as the funny original lens hood.
