philpix55 Posted December 16, 2009 Share #1 Posted December 16, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have a 35mm f1.4 Asherical lens used currently on my M6. Can the lens be used on the M9 without modification?
Advertisement Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 Hi philpix55, Take a look here Lens compatibility. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted December 16, 2009 Share #2 Posted December 16, 2009 If it is the Asph version it can be easily coded. If it is the original aspherical version, coding isnot possible without milling the mount, which, given the price of such lenses in original state, might not be a good idea. lars_bergquist Posted December 16, 2009 Share #3 Posted December 16, 2009 You can of course use it uncoded and identify it manually in the lens menu. But you will soon tire of this rooting in menus, and the silly mistakes it engenders. The old man from the Age B. E. (Before Electronics)
scott kirkpatrick Posted December 16, 2009 Share #4 Posted December 16, 2009 There is always the sharpie pen. I marked up my uncoded 35/summicron-asph about a year ago, and the mark is still working fine. scott
adan Posted December 16, 2009 Share #5 Posted December 16, 2009 Finally, of course, you can just shoot with your Aspherical (or ASPH for that matter) on the M9 with NO coding, no menu selection and no Sharpie or other modifications whatsoever, and get very nice results. I shoot a 35 f/1.4 from the 1970s - uncoded, and don't have time to mess with selecting it in the menus. The results are great.
