michali Posted December 9, 2009 Share #1 Posted December 9, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) M9 & 135mm Tele Elmar Like most vultures this is a scavenger, feeding mostly from carcasses of animals which it finds by soaring from great heights over the savannah. Vultures are the "vaccum cleaners" of the savannah, they can strip the remains of a giraffe carcass to the bone within 2 or 3 days. These guys weigh on average about 7kg with a wing span of over 2meters. Once again due to human encroachment and habitat destruction it is rarer than previously believed, its conservation status has been reassessed from Least Concern to Near Threatened. stuny Posted December 9, 2009 Share #3 Posted December 9, 2009 Mike - Exquisite, which is exactly hwat I expect of your wildlife shots. On our first trip to Africa in '94 we were lucky enough to balloon over a white backed vulchure's nest with two chicks in it.
leicanut2 Posted December 9, 2009 Share #4 Posted December 9, 2009 I Leica it. Makes me wonder what I was thinking selling both my new 135mm and my Tele Elmar. May have to buy one more, you use the 1.4x along with the 135mm? Cheers Jan
