noah_addis Posted December 9, 2009 Share #62 Posted December 9, 2009 If you hate it so much, paint yours over. I just painted over mine, then realized that I can no longer set any of the camera functions. Better get out the paint stripper:D
nhabedi Posted December 9, 2009 Share #63 Posted December 9, 2009 It is true that neither one of us knows what the real design philosophy is. However, the prominent LCD on the back of all diigital Ms is rather strong evidence that the designers do in fact value the LCD and find it to be consistent with the Leica design philosophy. That they have a design philosophy doesn't necessarily mean they always adhere to it. Otherwise please explain the reason for the "simple mode" on the M8.2... They realized it was a mistake and swept it under the rug on the M9. In the same vain, they could realize the LCD screen was a mistake and get rid of it for the M10. (Just pulling your legs, of course.)
blatent liar Posted December 9, 2009 Author Share #64 Posted December 9, 2009 I just painted over mine, then realized that I can no longer set any of the camera functions. Better get out the paint stripper:D I taped a Tech Pan box-top to mine last week, TriX Box top this week. Next week Velvia. Lift to change ISO. -Max p.s. I can make these and re-sell them to neo-luddite who wishes to buy one, maybe I'll have them screen printed on Schott Sapphire Crystal, and charge $450. tom0511 Posted December 10, 2009 Share #67 Posted December 10, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) <Presuming Firmware is solid>If Leica built a Digital M sans LCD Display, (w/ Frame/Battery window, Manual ISO, No JPG)... At half the price of the M9; Would you buy one? Manual Shutter Winder (M9-m)..? Any takers? -Max No, I know it sounds great to work like in film times but frankly you dont have to use it and if you shoot in strange light it is usefull to check histogramm here and then. I dont feel disturbed by the display at all. For me its a bonus.
Samir Jahjah Posted December 13, 2009 Share #68 Posted December 13, 2009 With or without LCD, a digital M with a manual winder producing sufficient energy for the next shot appeals a lot to me! Could we one day expect an M10/11 that would not require us to pack 4 or 5 batteries? With or without LCD, a ISO dial, to the left of the viewfinder would be a fantastic addition. With or without LCD, the JPEG engine can go as far as I am concerned...but some journalists really do need it.. If the LCD goes, so much the better...mine is always turned off : in some low light situation the LCD can attract too much attention.
Nicoleica Posted December 13, 2009 Share #69 Posted December 13, 2009 After having read through these posts, I'm starting to think that there may be a niche market for vulcanite screen protectors. (Other finishes available upon request.)
