Advertisement Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 Hi adli, Take a look here Getting Leica's attention: How?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
bill Posted December 7, 2009 Share #22 Posted December 7, 2009 The best way to get Leica s attention on issues like this is to post about them. etc... Speaking as a parent, the very best way to really piss me off and not to get what you want is to demand something in a petulant and snotty manner: "I want..." "Give me..." "Why haven't I got..." "Jimmy's new [insert as applicable] has [insert feature as applicable] - why hasn't mine?" ...and of course the old favourites: "You're just not listening..." "You're being SO unfair..." etc. Far too many of the threads here should be read in a whiny pre-pubescent teenager voice for full effect. Assuming for a moment that the vast majority of people on here are old enough to no longer be troubled by their voice dropping, explosions of acne and raging hormones, it sometimes astonishes me that there is so much of this adolescent language used by posters who would like Leica to do something for them. Just a thought... Regards, Bill

frc Posted December 7, 2009 Share #25 Posted December 7, 2009 Not jealous at all with people already having a colour fringing combo like an M9 with a Lux 24. You all get your names removed from the waiting list, cheaply dump your recently bought M9s. ( Got the SD card and in a hurry to format ;-)
okram Posted December 7, 2009 Share #26 Posted December 7, 2009 M9 users: there are some substandard things about M9- like format time or decentered vgnetting corrections- they should not be ignored. Maybe the tone is wrong, but the OP seems right to me.
jaapv Posted December 7, 2009 Share #27 Posted December 7, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Yes- right, but it is a minor thing and does not really impair shooting- just take plenty of cards and format at home. The off-centre vignetting - it is in my experience annoying only in certain circumstances and using some older/oem lenses. Again, in real life it is no big deal. Should it be addressed? Yes - and I am sure Leica is working on it. My main gripe is the long writing time to the computer by card reader over USB. I have been looking for a firewire SD card reader. I havent found it yet - just CF readers. Anybody?
flyboy Posted December 7, 2009 Share #28 Posted December 7, 2009 For those who already own the M9, you are less than happy with all the color cast on wide lenses, slow write speed to your SD card and other issues. We're almost 2010 and Leica is recommending using SD Ultra 2 because they are more stable??? The last time I used Ultra 2 for my kids' P+S was 3 years ago. For those who do not own the M9, you are dying to pay $7K and inherit these problems. I do not see an urgency for Leica to fix these reported issues until the waiting lists situation eases or disappear. If you truly want to get the attention of Leica, withdraw all of your names from the waiting lists as soon as you can, I can assure you that the reported problems will become a reality to them. As a for-profit entity, I do not blame them for not seeing beyond the sacrificial money that are offered and waiting for the product. The urgency for them now is to get your money into their coffers as fast as they can do it. Wow, that is cool. Everybody shall cancel the order, so you will be the first in line cool strategy. It may not be quite as fast as FireWire, but it's the faster USB card reader I've found. Plus, it's very small and closes up, so that you don't have to worry about dust and crud getting into the slots when it's not in use. http://www.lexar.com/readers/pro_udma_dualslot.html (About €40 or less.) glenerrolrd Posted December 7, 2009 Share #30 Posted December 7, 2009 Bill Since you quoted my post and then ranted about the original poster...I feel compelled to respond. My observation is that a well crafted complaint posted here on the LUF ..has a far greater impact that any other option available to the consumer. It provides far greater exposure and allows others experiencing similar problems to add insights. Certainly the wording could be improved and it could add credibility to the post. But slandering the original poster by comparing him or was that me to a child is uncalled for and doesn t seem to be in the spirit of an open dialogue. There is ,however, no getting away from the facts : 1. With certain wide angle lenses..most notably the Leica 18mm 3.8 ...you will have a color issue(red corner) on the M9. It greatly affects the color of several of the zeiss and CV lenses that have been popular. This is well documented here on the forum and in several comprehensive tests . The cornerfix software has been modified to help fix this in post processing. 2. There are numerous posts as well on the problems encountered with some SDHC cards on the M9. Using slower cards..taking the battery out to reboot etc are not as they should be. These are both real problems ..well documented right on this forum. IMHO his point seemed to be that ..Leica doesn t seem to be acknowledging the issues and he suggests that they probably will not (considering the formidable backlog and production issues seems like a reasonable point of view). You certainly have a right to a different point of view...you don t have a right to call someone a child or anything else. Or did I misunderstand ..you linked my comment..so I assumed you were speaking to me ? Speaking as a parent, the very best way to really piss me off and not to get what you want is to demand something in a petulant and snotty manner: "I want..." "Give me..." "Why haven't I got..." bill Posted December 7, 2009 Share #31 Posted December 7, 2009 Bill Since you quoted my post... ...I certainly did... ...and then ranted about the original poster... Hardly. a) I generally tend not to rant, viewing it as a waste of energy. I never mentioned the original poster at all. ...I feel compelled to respond. Fair enough. You certainly have a right to a different point of view...you don t have a right to call someone a child or anything else. Or did I misunderstand ..you linked my comment..so I assumed you were speaking to me ? Nope. Trust me, if I intended to be impolite, you would not have to ask for clarification.
