15mm Super Wide Heliar on M9 for Black and White only

I still use my M8, and will eventually get the M9. My question is how many on this forum are using the 15mm Super Wide Heliar on their M9 for the purpose of using it for only Black and White photography? Recently, I took my M8 into the blast furnaces of the old Bethlehem Steel plant here in Bethlehem Pennsylvania and used my 15mm Super Wide Heliar extensively. I would imagine with the M9 I would be very pleased with the increased resolution and coverage with this lens. I would like to see some M9 pics with this lens in Black and White from some forum members. I will post some of mine as well.

Eleskin,

Fantastic pictures; I'd love to see them at a higher resolution (.jpg compression is pretty heavy in the samples you posted). And I'd love even more to see them printed. There's some exquisite detail in those images, I'm guessing.

I just got my M9 and have yet to mount my CV15. But even on the M8 I found the CV most compelling in B&W. It'll be interesting to see (in the context of real photos, not brick walls) how good or bad the sharpness is around the edges on an M9 frame.

eleskin,

Great shots, I second the "lets see them in bigger resolution" as these seems a bit compressed.

Just wanted to say, the shots you did, would not have "more" resolution, shot with a M9 from the same stand point.. only more coverage in that the lens is wider. acting as a 15mm instead of a 21mm.

naturally you might then go closer and in turn get more resolving power... :)

  • 6 months later...

I would like to know if there is any new wisdom on the issue of the v-lander 15mm and the m9

I will be taking delivery of an m9 soon and was going to trade in the 15mm as part of the deal. Now I am debating this is a wise move?

I only really work in colour.

Does the corner fix software resolve the issue?

Any information great fully received

What I am worried about is the colur shift in the corners.

I have heard/read that the latest firmware copes with this, as does colourfix software but I could really do with knowing that for somebody who has this combination rather than somebody who has just read it .

Cheers

love this lens. havent got to putting up pictures online yet. Going off to Moscow & Cairo next month and would be using this solely near the pyramids and the crowded spice markets (on a sunny day at f/8, i can use hyperfocal and use my m9 as a point n shoot). will focus on b&w photography, as the wide angles would look gorgeous on b&w.

used cornerfix, and it does away with the inherent problems with this lens. but comparing this with the monster WATE (in respect to the small footprint of m lenses and photography) in terms of size and price, this lens is a killer!

also the attached hood was a positive.

cheers
