AnakChan Posted December 2, 2009 Share #1 Posted December 2, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi all, I've been noticing posts being deleted, presumably by the moderator. For example in the Good News And Bad News -Big Price Drop in Australia thread in The M9 forum, the last few posts of probably 2-3 days about the availability of an M9 by a retailer have been snipped off. And a few weeks ago when I created a new thread about the availability of an M9 on eBay was also removed. I'm slowly beginning to understand the trend of administrators not wanting eBay links put in but is there any guidance as to what can and can't be discussed? I didn't see this in the Rules in the Leica Forum and was surprised a few posts in the above Australia thread getting snipped. If there's more specific guidance put up, then maybe members will know what they can and can't post up and won't be so surprised why their posts get snipped. Thanks, Sean
Advertisement Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 Hi AnakChan, Take a look here Posts being deleted by the Moderator?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
hoppyman Posted December 2, 2009 Share #2 Posted December 2, 2009 I am not a moderator, but I would think that the reason those posts were removed is in the rules that you have quoted "No buy & sell activities, linking to third party selling sites (e.g. link to eBay and similar areas) are allowed" I think the Aussies in the discussions especially welcome information where it can be provided by the distributor but we have to be careful when individual dealers are discussed. Pretty clearly it seems acceptable to report where we bought our Leica stuff and personal opinions on them but maybe an individual dealer saying that they had an M9 for sale is over the line. ( and also maybe should have been VERY quickly no longer for sale).
AnakChan Posted December 2, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted December 2, 2009 hoppyman, I missed that point in the rules. Got it, ok...the eBay one is perfectly clear. I think I know what went wrong with the Australia one too then, it was the seller who put up that he had one available. I guess if someone else pointed that his shop had one available then it would have been ok. Got it now. thx!!
LUF Admin Posted December 2, 2009 Share #4 Posted December 2, 2009 Hi, it's exactly as described by Hoppyman... The reasons are: - If we would allow eBay links many people would use the forum to promote their ads. We also made the experience that discussions about ebay offerings can cause lot of trouble... - Our main income source are ads, often dealer ads. If we allow advertising posts for dealers, our advertisers would ask what thay pay for... Best regards from Bonn Andreas
