I have a Ricoh GRII. Apart from its many features the two key things for me vis-a-vis the M8 are: (1) it is very small, so always with me and (2) it has a somewhat wider field of view than the widest lens I have on the M8 (24 Elmarit = 32 EFOV) which can be handy for interior shots when I want good DOF and wide view.

Now humming about whether to move up to the new GRIII.

Cheers

Robert

PS I do also have a Canon 30D but since I never get around to using it I am not sure it counts

Sigma DP1 and DP2, most brilliant IQ in pocketable form. Will see whether the X1 can replace the DP2. GRD3, f 1.9 lens, IQ, UI, shirt pocketable, ISO 1600 for b&w. Recently also m4/3 because of versatility (long, wide) and as backup for the M8 (with adapter).

Besides my M8, I have a D700 to go with my film 'F' cameras, and use this for purposes where an 'M' is not appropriate. I also have a P6000 which lives in my handbag. (I sold my D-Lux 4 as the lack of a built in viewfinder outweighed it's lens quality. :( ) Apart from this, I also have a selection of film cameras (Some of which are even older than I. ) which I enjoy using when opportunity arises. :)

I use a Lumix DMC-FT1 for family/holiday/pool/underwater shots....28mm lens, waterproof, ideal for snaps etc....previous hx was M2, M6, Eos 1n, Eos 30D, Hassleblad 500c & 501cm

all gone except for my M8 and lumix.......finally discovered I like photography, not equipment ! lol!

I use a Ricoh GRD and I also have a D-Lux3, both are great, but I keep thinking what's to buy next?

the Olympus E-P2 looks interesting as does the latest Ricoh GXR, but why can't they build an decent small camera with an internal optical finder,

I suppose one good thing is that it makes me use and love my M8 all the more.

Nikon D90 with Nikon 18-70, various Sigmas, inc 10-20. Essential for interiors and food work, but not half as much fun as the M8, which I've now had for about 3 weeks (bought new with Summarit 35/2.5 as an unmissable deal from Wilkinson Cameras).

So the cocktail below was D90 plus flash boxes and the chef just available light, with the M8 in the kitchen. Chetri, the chef was fun and the cocktail never spoke.

Although the chef's pic, a grab shot, is not quite sharp, - for me it's far more satisfying. I really enjoy how I can relate to subjects and depict their personality so much better when my entire face is not hidden behind a bulky SLR.

Very interesting. Thanks for taking time to respond. I have a Canon 40 d. I keep thinking it's necessary on a big event shoot, but it weighs a ton and isn't really that great. I am thinking of kissing it good bye and replacing with something else, so just wondering what y'all are using. When doing a shoot w. both cameras most of the keepers are w. M8...

I shoot lots of children and events and that sort of thing, and find myself in dark situations  (low light, that is) so the 40d has a slight edge, but I just can't make myself like it..

The new G11 looks rather nice.

Other ideas welcome

PS. the iPhone is amazing!!

I use big guns for art copy, a D2x for catalog shots and for wet location work and a M8 for everything else. The 4x5s give me massive files that let me print giclees up to 40x90. The D2x with a 60 micro and a few WL strobes in soft boxes make for fast studio work. Mount a 80-200 or a 17-55 and its great on a bouncing deck. But other than that, the M8 goes everywhere and shoots everything.
