coding-problem on M9

There are a number of coding services like John Milich.

Jaap I already went through this with John when I owned that 4.5 21 and the M8. The replacement 21 mount he offers does not fit this one, only the 2.8 21. He may be able to machine the existing mount, BUT, as I tried to explain for the OP, there are two versions of the ZM mounts depending on when produced and they do not both bring up the same frame lines and hence they are not both necessarily codable as the same Leica lens options. Zeiss have in the past changed mounts for customers on request.

Here's what Popflash have to say currently.

"The ZEISS factory advises Popflash not recommend the 4.5/21 ZM for use with the M9 camera. The chief ray angles of this lens are too steep for the sensor design and it results in a red color shift at the edge of the frame. This cannot be corrected in the camera and is not easy to remove in Photoshop. All the other ZM lenses are satisfactory with this camera."

As alerady posted in the del-reg, this picture is taken with Zeiss 4.5/21mm and M9. Finally corrected with cornerfix. Correct frame lines are shown - only automatic lensdetection does (unfortunately not work!

But Picture seems to be absolutely oK!

It may be my monitor but I see in this picture what I am seeing on many of my WATE pictures on the M9; a slight magenta hint on the clouds. I am sure this is the sort of thing that firmware updates and better profiles on the RAW converters, will soon cure.

I know :) I was the one that blazed that trail with Zeiss. They were utterly puzzled at my request for a mount at first.

Now, I have solved the M9-coding-problem.

Seeing that Leica is using often a more greyish color Imixed white with a small amount of black (nail-varnish).

Result: My Zeiss Biogon 4.5/21mm is perfectly recognized, and red/magenta-shift on the left-side can easily be corrected with CornerFix.

I'm now one of the very happy M9 owners!
