photophile Posted November 28, 2009 Share #1 Posted November 28, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) My m8, which has behaved reasonably well till now, is locking up while writing to the buffer. After about 7 shots, not the normal 11, it freezes in the buffer zone, and takes about 2-3 minutes to clear and will not turn off or shoot. Now I get a message on a black screen the reads " LXXXX.JPG" - and no image itself. I turn off the unit finally and pop the battery. The images - but only the first few.. show up normally. Using the same Lexar pro 133 8gb card I always have, and shoot DNG + Basic JPG - like I always do. Any hints or similar experiences.. or does it have to go back to the mother ship? Advertisement Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 Hi photophile, Take a look here actual JP Lnumber on screen rather than image?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Nicoleica Posted November 28, 2009 Share #2 Posted November 28, 2009 Have you tried re-formatting the card? This sounds like a write problem and could well be due to corruption on the card. Also, if this doesn't work, try another card. They can fail sometimes, and it's quicker and cheaper to try another one than shipping it off to Leica to discover the same. Another possibility could be low battery power. I have heard of problems like this when the battery is low. I hope it is something simple such as the above, and that your camera is back to normal soon.

Guest mc_k Posted November 29, 2009 Share #4 Posted November 29, 2009 ...Now I get a message on a black screen the reads " LXXXX.JPG" - and no image itself.... I had this symptom associated with a corrupted card, first shot out of the gate, full battery. I kept shooting with the card, and none of the files could be read by the Mac afterwards. I was able to go on using the camera with other cards without incident.
