On the M8 I was set with a 35 Summilux as my go to lens for 90% of what I shot. With the M9 it has been quite a bit of trial and error and I finally ended up with a 3 lens everyday kit that I am thrilled with on the M9.

35 Summarit. Yep, I actually like it a teeny bit better than the summicron (and I LOVE the 35 cron ASPH). Warmer, not as nail bitingly sharp and the color is gorgeous. I am fine with 2.5 for a 35 as my "main" lens is the 50 focal length.

50 Summicron. A lens I previously disregarded. I never thought I would like the 50 cron with all of the other choices out there. The last time I shot with one was years ago with an M7. On the M9 I love its look. It is so different than the Lux and the Zeiss planar. It's really beautiful on the M9 and has a creamy almost classic sort of feel. I also shot some indoor low light ISO 2500 stuff and the 50 cron at F2 was fine. I realized I did not need F1.4. At F2, the 50 cron has nice OOF transitions. But again, the color! I find it warmer than the Lux ASPH which always seemed to be on the cooler side of neutral in my experience.

90 Elmarit. I had the 90 cron and shot with the 90 summarit but the 90 Elmarit is a winner on the M9 in every way. Size, signature and F2.8 is fine for a 90 with some glow wide open. Yes, the 90 cron is gorgeous but its larger, heavier, and much more expensive. I found a new old stock 90 Elmarit with full passport warranty and snagged it. Happy I did. For the rare times I use a 90, the Elmarit will be a fine performer and its so slim and small!

Yep, I stopped worrying about the speed and settled on three lenses that are absolutely brilliant on the full frame M9. I got all three, new in box for $4400 including the 35 Summarit hood. It's a great set of lenses and they are all so small that I can take all three with me at all times.

If I were a rich man I would also have the 50 Lux ASPH in my kit along with a 24 Elmarit. But I am happy with my three lens M9 kit. Small, high performance and all are better than my capabilities :)

I was always thinking, that Zeiss lenses giva that warm, creamy feel.

Don't they?

Since I have my M9, now my Nocti is often being the One that attach to my camera.

I've opted for the 35/1.2 Nokton. It should tide me over at least until the rumoured new 35 'lux beomes widely available. The frequent reports of focus shift on the current 35 lux ASPH has kept me away from it. I had a 35 'cron ASPH on my M8, but it was neither wide (47mm equiv) nor fast enough for a single lens or a standard lens in a kit - really great IQ though :)

For a 3-lens kit I aim to get the ZM 21/2,8, a fast 35 (currently the CV 35 nokton) and a 75/2.5 or 90/2.5.

So far I have the 35 and 75 but am still waiting on a list for the M9 to put them on. Have run out of funds, so will need to wait a while before acquiring the 21mm.

I have only seen samples of the 35/1.2 nokton on film cameras, so I'll try to post some samples on the M9 for you folks when I get one. It is a big and heavy lens, but no more so than an f/1 noctilux I've used before, or the canon 50/1.2 ltm I used to own.
