Hello

My name is Rúben Almeida and i recently bought a 2nd hand Digilux 2.

I´m a “pure amateur” in photography ( start to photograph 8 months ago) , but is one of my passions.

The camera is fantastic, and i am very pleased to see so many followers of this Leica model.

Regards to all Leica enthusiasts

Carlos, the Thorsten Overgaard's website is fantastic, thanks for the tip :)

the D2 is a very good camera, the only problem until now for me is the noide, over iso 200 is hard for me do some photos, do you D2 user´s have any kind of tip for me about this "problem"?

Regards :)

It is the Achilles Heel of the D2, together with lack of a buffer. I rarely use my D2 above ISO 100 and occasionally at 200 with bounced flash indoors. One possible solution is to underexpose slightly (with ISO 100 OR 200) while shooting in Raw; then recover the exposure in your raw converter. It is far from ideal, but an option.

Where possible, in low light, I use the table tripod (or bigger tripod), shoot at ISO 100 and accept the brief time exposure. This is the best way with inanimate subjects, but clearly not always possible with moving human beings. Whatever, do explore the method for those subjects where you can accept some subject movement.

Hello Rúben, I too have recently bought a digilux 2, this is in fact my first post on this forum, and I'm very happy with it. I find the pictures it produces very appealing to my eye. The images have a texture that I find very desirable and convenient to review for the money I paid for it (£400). I also love being able to see my f and shutter spped settings without looking at a screen, it works like my old FM2 (yeehaa), it's so useable and clunky.

The bounce flash thingy helps mitigate for the ugly noise at higher ISO to some extent becuase it isn't completely hideous raw light, but you are right the 400 ISO noise is not pretty to my eye, however I accidentally took some pictures of my girlfriend in reasonable natural light at 400 ISO B&W and she preferred them to the rest so maybe it is pretty to some, who knows?

Ruben, the quality of your posted pictures require no apology from you that you are quote 'a pure amateur' unquote. Many top amateurs are as good as the best professionals; status does not reveal all. (By the way, do post these pictures in the photo forums.)

I love the dog by the sea picture; well observed and captured!

hello again!

the only precess that i did, was some color adjustments in the dog photography ( Polaroid style), the first one, in BW was taken using the Ansel Adams photometry calculation technique.

In the other, no processing, just a little adjustment in the withe balance

regards :)
