Help! I ended up with an LTM adapter being stuck on my new M9. I believe I screwed it in too far, because it looks like the lens mount button has not fully snapped back to its normal position. Does anybody know a trick how to remove the adapter without ruining the camera?

Well, if you happen to have an early Leica M rear lens cap - the kind that is very shallow and has a gray lining - it has three little bumps on the back that will fit into the cutouts on the LTM adapter to act as a spanner for unscrewing it.

Otherwise, what I've always done is screw in an LTM lens as tight as possible, and then remove the lens and adapter together. Then, of course, you have to get the adapter off the lens....

The screw-on lens should "stick" to the adapter more tightly than the adapter bayonet will stick to the camera, since the bayonet has no wedging action, but the screw thread does.

If you want to get an overly tight adapter off an LTM lens, without cutting your hand (done that!) or damaging the quite soft plastic of a lens cap, an unused, good quality, small chamois leather works a treat. This is also good for getting off stuck filters etc, as it is both very soft, strong and grippy. Finally it is the best thing I have found for wiping nose grease off the LCD.

Me too... :D... understood that BM blades are REAL blades... cleaning a Leica BM of my blood was a new experience...a solid gardener's glove is a good alternative to the chamois leather you quote, in my experience... ;)
