Advice over M8.2 or M9

Ok. So im on the waitinglist for an M9. My dealer predicts late January if i am lucky since i want a grey one.

I sold my black original M8 about a month ago. I have the fundings to pay the M9 in cash today. But realisticly, do i really want to wait until January to get a camera?

So i started to look around. I really want a grey/silver/chrome digital M, and Meister Camera have a new M8.2 in stock for 3895 Euros. Should i jump back to the M8 and save the rest of the money?

Not an easy question to answer.

Is the wait for FF really worth all the extra money and the agony of not having a camera. (Actually i have a Canon, but since i sold my Leica, the number of frames on that is really low)

If only i could find a decent Chrome M8.2 located in europe for around 2500 euros. Anyone who knows if such camera exists?

Go for the M9 but call smaller dealers; I was on a list for many month already and on 9/9/9, I was told all those stories on very few Leica's trickling in and I'd have to wait for many more weeks. Thus I called around and got one to take with me from a smaller dealer in my neighborhood on the 10th of September...

Good luck and best regards,

Michael

Thanks all. I think it was a moment of weakness that got me confused for a while. I thnik if i went with the M8.2 i would always have a bit of regrets for not going full frame when i had the opportunity.

Is there a official Leica dealer list somewhere?

OK, not a normal response, but I would recommend finding a clean M2 and shoot some Kodachrome through the holidays. The full-frame experience will be the same, the lenses the same, and you only have a couple of Christmas holidays left to enjoy the Kodachrome emulsions.

Of course other films are enjoyable too.

Oh, and once your M9 arrives, you can keep the M2 as a backup, or sell it for close to what you paid.

Enjoy.

Thanks. That is actually not a bad idea. Why didn´t i think of that. Maybe an M6 might work as well.

I second this idea; regarding M6 over M2: the price difference when selling it might be more significant, as I perceive the M6-market as more fluctuating than the M2 one...

Best regards,

Michael

M2s seem to be around £500 in UK, M6s nearer £850; to exchange soon after purchase would lose you £100–170 in my reckoning. Hopefully you'll track down an M9 with better delivery........
