michali Posted November 20, 2009 Share #1 Posted November 20, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) M8 & 90mm Elmarit Male Blue Headed Agama, another one of my favorite reptiles. I photographed him outside my tent as he was soaking up the early morning light. Highly territorial, these reptiles are found throughout Southern Africa and East Africa. They grow to about 15cm in length. The females are grey coloured; this fellow is in breeding mode, hence his bright blue colour which changes according to temperature and stress factors. Their diet consists mainly of grasshoppers, caterpillars and beetles. Sadly they are highly sought after by reptile collectors around the world.
