gwelland Posted November 20, 2009 Share #61 Posted November 20, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Btw, looking at the delivery roster thread it would seem that several decent sized distributions of cameras have been hitting the US and Europe at the moment. It looks like a backlog of grey cameras is suddenly being delivered now.

carlmuck Posted November 20, 2009 Share #64 Posted November 20, 2009 RG Lewis, London today "supplies have stopped again" Well Baltimore, Maryland, USA they started up. 2 weeks ago I was #5 on the list, got the call this morning, and picked it up this afternoon. Now off to photograph something... c.
stevem7 Posted November 20, 2009 Share #65 Posted November 20, 2009 Same here, got my grey one yesterday. I was #1 on the list and the delivery date was in line with what a Leica rep told me at the Paris Photo Fair a month ago (I ordered 09/09) so I am not sure delays have slipped again. I think they are coming, slowly, one by one, no distinction between dealers. According to my dealer, there are 4000 orders and production is at 40 a day. So do the calculation based on your position on waiting list. Congrats on finally getting one, and grey! Sweet!
SteveYork Posted November 21, 2009 Share #66 Posted November 21, 2009 Whatever the delay, it's just good to see Leica produce a product for which there is such demand.
brill64 Posted November 21, 2009 Share #67 Posted November 21, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) scarcity of luxury, branded products after the global economy crash makes sense to me as a production strategy for survival. consumers have become too accustomed to the credit economy boom years and the abundance, affluence and immediacy it seemingly provided. much sought after items ended up in cut-price sales all too quickly giving consumers power over the producers and suppliers in terms of what and when they would likely be willing to pay. seems the tables are turning..look around, leica may be just one example. the message to me is that it's worth the wait
yanidel Posted November 21, 2009 Share #68 Posted November 21, 2009 Congrats on finally getting one, and grey! Sweet! Lovely ... it was worth the wait, I love that grey. And congrats on your new website.
hammam Posted November 21, 2009 Share #69 Posted November 21, 2009 I was far from asleep at that time, and recollect it better than you appear to. My issue is that you are telescoping and conflating years of events and thereby making it sound like a current issue. There are few companies around today that have not suffered a reduction in their order books; the measure is that many are no longer with us - Leica is, and has a full order book. What more do you want? Regards, Bill Well, would you say that Leica is in perfect financial health, and that projecting a bad image and not making good with their promises don't risk to destabilize them? As for having a full order book, what worth is it (literally) if you don't actually SELL the goods? Then again, in these days where credit in so scarce, maybe Leica don't need the cash flow. hammam Posted November 21, 2009 Share #70 Posted November 21, 2009 Great statement! I am totally with you! Nothing more to be said! (Hope you will remember your words when you will start next time lamenting about the M9 and Leica in general.) You mean being happy with the M8.2 and lamenting about the M9 and Leica in general are mutually exclusive? I mean, I ride a BMW F800 ST motorcycle, and I love the bike. However, I hate BMW, the company, for many reasons, including their total contempt for their customers.
andalus Posted November 21, 2009 Share #71 Posted November 21, 2009 HEY, I ride a BMW F800 S, bought in 2007. 8500 miles on the clock now. I very good ride, but I want to sell it for the M9...
hammam Posted November 21, 2009 Share #72 Posted November 21, 2009 Of course you may add no. 4. And you may also explain what makes my other points invalid? Y'know, I am really pig sick and tired of you people and your constant misery. Wallow all you like, if it makes you happy. There are more negatives around here than an old Fleet Street picture desk. Well, Bill, you have to admit that Leica don't really succeed in making its customers and admirers very happy these days.

Isn't it a great bike? But, NO! Don't sell it for the M9. You will regret it. Try and save, sell something else (the house, maybe?), but don't sell the F800. Unless you're tired of it, of course. Leicaiste Posted November 22, 2009 Share #75 Posted November 22, 2009 Well, Bill, you have to admit that Leica don't really succeed in making its customers and admirers very happy these days. As an example, Canon with the 5DII and Nikon with several lenses didn't do better in the past.

Chris_R Posted November 23, 2009 Share #77 Posted November 23, 2009 Well, Bill, you have to admit that Leica don't really succeed in making its customers and admirers very happy these days. I was very happy to get my Alpa 10d thirty some years ago after almost a year wait, and I am happy to wait for the M9. Good products are worth the wait. Inpatients only promotes the cheap crap products we are bombarded with daily. Cheers Chris R

I very good ride, but I want to sell it for the M9... i personally prefer the bmw (leica) r1200s. but nothing wrong with the f800. i ride a honda (nikon) cbr 600. but any quality product requires a bit of patience. buying a triumph daytona 675 has an 8 month waiting list. a bmw m3 is a 2 year waiting list. well, exotic cars like lambos have 4 year waiting lists in australia. consider the m9 a short wait. tester Posted November 25, 2009 Share #79 Posted November 25, 2009 Guys, "Delivery problem" is part of Leica marketing game in my opinion. Please consider what M9 is - first FF RF camera made by legendary company, everybody know what Leica means, camera is expencive like hell - like luxury item. Leica is no C or N you can buy everywhere if you only have right amount of money. So many people are waiting for their cameras, asking where to buy, how to get....there are rumors that someone got one yesterday! Whoa! This kind of rumors are stimulating Leica market. Some luxury cars has "similair" marketing line, you know. I don't think that Leica has full stock of M9...but this is also part of the plan I belive. Think about it. Regards T. UliWer Posted November 25, 2009 Share #80 Posted November 25, 2009 Guys, "Delivery problem" is part of Leica marketing game in my opinion. ... Evidently Leica has many employees to lament here about the enormous financial losses caused by not delivering the M9 much quicker, or to tell us they prepaid some thousands at one dealer, lamenting about non-delivery and at the same time telling us that they ordered another M9 from another dealer. Those people reporting to the "delivery register" that they got their camera are just agents of Leica's enemies to spoil this marketing game.
