Perhaps someone can offer some advice on the following?

I bought my M12 yesterday and I just cant seem to get any pictures in focus. I press the shutter release part-way down before taking the shot, however it doesn't matter what lens I use, all my pictures are soft. So much for the much vaunted AF.

I am mightily pissed off with Leica.

I am sure you are using the wrong setting as default. This happened to me when I involuntarily hit on the "35 Summilux -version 3 pre-asph 1969"- button. It is quite easy to change this: go into "Menue 27", enter "post-asph lenses" than scroll down to position 657, "lenses with non-holographic-autofocus" enter: "No"; "sharpening": middle, "desoftening": strong. Than switch off the camera, switch it on again with the lens cap in front of your lens, and wait until you get the signal for: "Take out the battery".

I hear Leica have booked Harry Potter for the Launch. Hope I get an invite.

Question is, will he get a pre-production S2?

Does the 5 year Passport Warranty start with the order, or the delivery? If the former, mine's out of warranty before I get it.

Just to let you know that I've posted page 47 of my M12 review. In it I compare a number of shots showing the chrome bumper of some redneck's pick-up truck (man, just look at that extra stop of chromeyness) with some 15 Lux shots of a rusty pipe. Geez, this is the best freaking camera I've ever used.

p.s. anyone want to buy a minty S2 (now that you can't buy any batteries for it)?

After shooting 137,593 frames on my M12, I'm beginning to wonder if I've done the right thing selling my Paterson film developing tank. I haven't shot a roll of film in the last 7 weeks since I bought the M12 and my wrist is starting to get stiff with the absence of rotation.

I'm almost shamed to say, I miss the smell of the darkroom chemicals, in spite of the fact that my Acne Rosaia appears to be calming at last and my dermatitis is under control for the first time since I got married. The M12 has changed my life, but whether it's for the better, or not, remains to be proved.

Has the M12 changed your life ?

You're all complaining... That's boring enough.

Hoping for a faultless M12 is just wishful thinking.

Today my vintage M8 has performed without any fault, and I kept more than 500 perfect shots at the SuperBowl.

The Saints played a great match, while the Vikings deserved something more.

leica enthusiasts were excited to say the least when the m900 stereo-optical-system was released on 10/10/10 to celebrate Leica's first decade in the new millennium, and over 1000 years in the optics industry.... for over two centureies the die-hards had been demanding the impossible: a totally integrated mind/memory system with instantaneous planetry connections via the interloop. It seemed impossible to fit this concept into the basic but beautiful m100 design starategy given the contrainsts of the optical cortex...

the retro styled m900 did not disappoint- indeed it blew people minds.... literally... the full frame implant system offered the very latest ZeissNikCombinat Biogonic Organic/Silica eyes. These divine optical instruments represented the pinnacle of over 500 years of collaboration between the ancient juggernauts of the image industries, and were touted as the most stylish optical implants known this side of of the big dipper. Assembled in vitro on the moon labs. Avaliable in Blue Crystal Diamond and Saphire Flame.

However it seems the system was designed beyond the capability of the human mind to process the datastream and clarity of the stereographic feeds- and users started reporting visual 'mind flips' and moments of unbearable clarity. It seemed the average human mind was simply not capeable of dealing the quantity and quality of data produced by the m900 implant. Rumours began spreading the you could 'see God' with the system.... Apparently - God- was -everywhere.. Its just our human eyes were too hazy to see...

Images were so sharp- they actually became fuzzy agian- and the wave/particle phenomenon became clearly visible to the ordinary user- experiences historically reserved for the saint or visionary were now avialable to those who could afford the m900 system-

prices were not reported publicly and were said to be by negotiation only- we can say they exceed the cost of a mid-size interplanetary schooner... and then some!

Somehow, the latte-Mode does not work correctly when I turned off the camera while it was making latte. When I pulled out the battery and restart the camera from scratch and resume the latte making, it worked fine.

Do you think the next firmware release will fix this?

Battery removing is Leica tradition now, incorporated in every camera as a way of functioning. Like no other,

Some people think interest in the M12 is waning due to distribution problems. BHadorama has received only 575 cameras, and it's already been 2 weeks since the announcement. I realize Leica is a small company, but even Olympus managed to have their EP-37 widely available by zeppelin drop within hours of the announcement.

You could try also buying a lens to bribe the camera dealer. That's what I did. I called to see if they had the 24k Gold version, and got it overnighted to me when I also bought a Noctilux f/0.5 50mm (4th gen), and the NQE (that is a Noct-Quad-Elmar 21-28-35-50 f/0.95). Sure, the lenses cost 5 times the camera price, and are twice the size and four times the weight of the M12, but I got one!

The most alarming thing is that the M12 will probably only have features that are already available on today's dSLRs but probably do them less well.
