Advertisement Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 Hi vdb, Take a look here Early morning romp. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stuny Posted November 16, 2009 Share #2 Posted November 16, 2009 Virgil - This looks very promising but I must try again from my better monitor at home.
stuny Posted November 16, 2009 Share #3 Posted November 16, 2009 Virgil - Still promising on my home monitor, but just a bit too subtle, I think.
vdb Posted November 17, 2009 Author Share #4 Posted November 17, 2009 Thanks Stuart. Appreciate your input. I will work with it more...but it was quite dark and I have little detail to work with.
pauledell Posted November 17, 2009 Share #5 Posted November 17, 2009 Virgil, If you could lighten it some more, you would have another storybook shot. It is almost there because I see Lars, but it just is too dark to even qualify for a nightmare. Paul
leicamann Posted November 17, 2009 Share #6 Posted November 17, 2009 a bit too dark..however there are many amazing things you "could have done" with a 1 second or 2 second exposure.......???? Thanks for posting Cheers, JRM
vdb Posted November 17, 2009 Author Share #7 Posted November 17, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks folk. Here's a lighter version.
stuny Posted November 17, 2009 Share #8 Posted November 17, 2009 Virgil - In version one I saw something dreamlike. In this one I see a story of a wolf chasing down a fairytale heroine. Both versions have terrific charm and mystery. I think it would be better still to preserve as much of the deep black as possible. This version tells me a different story, though I might have lightened the section with Lars a bit too much.
roguewave Posted November 17, 2009 Share #9 Posted November 17, 2009 Virgil, the first is the right idea. I'd keep experimenting until you get just enough of a silhouette of Lars in a soft background light with only the trees. The foreground I would keep dark. ( I'd lose the swing). It adds room for the imagination. These are the frames that if you really keep at it, will make you work hard to become a better artist.
albert Posted November 17, 2009 Share #10 Posted November 17, 2009 Virgil, I appreciate #1, I am jealous that you have evolved your very-own style.
vdb Posted November 18, 2009 Author Share #11 Posted November 18, 2009 I am very appreciative of everyone's input here. Made me spend more time working this one. Here's another version:
pauledell Posted November 18, 2009 Share #12 Posted November 18, 2009 Virgil, I like both your second version and Stuart's. These make the story have a bit more clarity. Either a wolf chasing the hero or Lars chasing a rabbit, depending on your mood. Paul
