Advertisement Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 Hi jaapv, Take a look here Purple Blobs?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jeffwros Posted November 14, 2009 Share #22 Posted November 14, 2009 Yep, try installing LR 2.4 and see what that does for you. Make sure to rebuild your previews, too. Had a problem with M8 files and LR 2.5 on PPC. Going back to 2.4 fixed it. Good luck.

Good luck. ...Yes ...First of all thank you William for pointing it out and posting the links that confirm the bug....glad it's not the camera (don't want to have to send it back and wait again for another)...it also explains why the thumbnails on the origionals don't show the blobs...and LR 3 woon't even work on PC macs...also in looking at some of my recent M8.2 files in lightroom (after 2.5 installed) i see similiar artifacts which I thoght at the time were the highlight red filter identifying blown highlights...though nothing was as blatant as this so i didn't really react to it.... Jeff ....thanks also and how do you uninstall LR 2.5 and reinstall 2.4??...in my applications folder i just see LR 2..... mike

marknorton Posted November 15, 2009 Share #28 Posted November 15, 2009 Amuses me how the memory card is blamed for problems like this, a wild shot in the dark. It's worth switching on JPEGs in a situation like this to provide an alternative DNG development; if it's consistently in one image and not the other, it cannot be the sensor, or the memory card for that matter. James R Posted November 15, 2009 Share #32 Posted November 15, 2009 That's the problem. There is a known problem with using a Power PC and LR which leaves that static in the highlight areas. I don't know if Adobe is even working on the problem. Here's a sample: Adobe Lightroom 2.5 corruption of Sony raw files on Flickr - Photo Sharing! It's been reported on our own Digital Processing Forum as well. Also: Important Note Regarding Lightroom 2.5 and Camera Raw 5.5 for those using PowerPC - Lightroom Journal The old Mac's are not receiving much love. Most software developers are not going to put resources on issues with an obsolete computer. (Not saying it isn't good, but Steve Job wants them gone.)
