spersky Posted November 13, 2009 Share #1 Posted November 13, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just called a few local Leica dealers. Some of them have not even gotten their first batch of m9's and a few have not seen another camera since 9/9/09. Could the manufacture process be that slow, or is there sort of manufacturing problem that we are not being told about? Have any cameras even been delivered recently? Advertisement Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 Hi spersky, Take a look here M9:not even trickling in.. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
smoody Posted November 13, 2009 Share #2 Posted November 13, 2009 I was at a small Leica dealer the other day. They said they've received six units total and they have thirty more people -- who paid cash deposits -- still waiting. It must be very frustrating for dealers. nemeng Posted November 13, 2009 Share #3 Posted November 13, 2009 Yes, Yes and No. However it is apparently not a problem. "Just Be Patient". ... and while you are at it, here, drink this tasty Kool-Aid =)
mat_mcdermott Posted November 13, 2009 Share #4 Posted November 13, 2009 All I can say is that I'm really glad I didn't sell my M8 in anticipation/to finance an M9.
spersky Posted November 13, 2009 Author Share #5 Posted November 13, 2009 Well I sold my Canon gear to finance the M9 and some lenses. I have the lenses, and not having an M9 is killing me! I really hope I have it before christmas.
Chroma project Posted November 13, 2009 Share #6 Posted November 13, 2009 You will have it before Christmas, just be patient
jaques Posted November 13, 2009 Share #7 Posted November 13, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) what makes you think they will be delivered by Christmas? so far all of Australia seems to have received perhaps 14 cameras or less. I have heard of one dealer who has 40 plus outstanding. My NYC dealer claims to have 30+ on order... and on it goes. He told me he expects that delivery will be before the end of the year but to be honest I don't think he sounded at all confident... Looking at the leica delivery map only a few cameras appear a day... I wonder how many cameras are on order around the world right now? do you know something we don't? spersky Posted November 13, 2009 Author Share #8 Posted November 13, 2009 Well I am first on the list at my local dealer. They have only received one and sold it. Basically, all they have to receive is one, and I am good to go I even worry that they will get even one more M9 before x-mas.
Artichoke Posted November 13, 2009 Share #9 Posted November 13, 2009 I wonder whether the weak $ is playing a role the dollar is way down against the yen and euro and this crash began shortly after September's release the Kodak sensors were probably bought under contract when the dollar was stronger
jaapv Posted November 13, 2009 Share #10 Posted November 13, 2009 Not everywhere. On GetDPI I see a steady trickle of M9 s appearing and the latest new owner ordered his just over a month before in the UK.
pvanvliet08 Posted November 13, 2009 Share #11 Posted November 13, 2009 There seems to be a problem with the LCD screen delivery. At least that is what my vendor is telling me.
Artichoke Posted November 13, 2009 Share #12 Posted November 13, 2009 There seems to be a problem with the LCD screen delivery. At least that is what my vendor is telling me. the LCD display is probably the least technically advanced part of the camera & one that many have negatively commented upon good to know the problem is not with the sensor, if your vendor is correct
veraikon Posted November 13, 2009 Share #13 Posted November 13, 2009 There seems to be a problem with the LCD screen delivery. At least that is what my vendor is telling me. There was this problem, but it is solved since weeks (see similar german thread) The fact is Leica can build about 50-60 M9 a workday. After new information there is a waiting queue till April 2010 . rennsport Posted November 13, 2009 Share #14 Posted November 13, 2009 I placed my order during the last week of September, now my dealer told me that *maybe* the first batch will be here around X-mas or early Jan 2010. So far there has been no shipment to Thailand yet. Grrrrr.
alanball Posted November 13, 2009 Share #15 Posted November 13, 2009 Was so stooooopid: I sold M8 and a lens mid september to get my funds ready for an off-the-shelf M9 purchase. The launch was so smooth, everything seemed well organised, availability was a "given" at the time, and.....nothing..... After playing a bit with my good old M6, and remembering why I had given up film, I used those funds and purchased a small DSLR (Pentax K7) and some high quality primes. Frankly, that combo offers equivalent results to my M8 did, at least as efficiently, even if it is far less elegant. Still, there went my M9 dreams, and reading this thread and talking with my local shops, seems I did the right thing.... Wonder how many similar sales opportunities Leica is losing in that way.... Guest EarlBurrellPhoto Posted November 13, 2009 Share #18 Posted November 13, 2009 Anyone with any knowledge at all of Leica product delivery over the past couple decades really oughtn't be surprised at the delay.
