johnastovall Posted November 9, 2009 Share #1 Posted November 9, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm in the process of upgrading all my digital darkroom and have been reading that the Colorburst RIP when used with CS4 and Epson 3880 and 4880 printers can get around the issues with custom print profiles involved with Snow Leopard. Is anyone using a Mac, Snow Leopard and Epson printer with the Colorburst RIP? How do you like it? Does it speed up printing folders of images? Was it 'Plug and Play?' Rich_H Posted November 29, 2009 Share #2 Posted November 29, 2009 Since no one has taken a crack at a response, I thought I'd offer something. I've been using Colorbyte's ImagePrint software for years with very good success on an Epson 4000. Recently, I decided to print through Lightroom and PS using some of their templates. All of my prints came out very, very dark--equivalent to 2 stops underexposure. It turns out there is a bug with some Mac/Epson/Adobe combinations. It is documented and being worked on right now, according to both Epson and Adobe senior people I've spoken to. Most of my printing has been done using the ImagePrint software. It produces beautiful results and is not affected by the above problem. I suspect other RIP's also avoid this problem but my experience is with ImagePrint. chuckw Posted November 29, 2009 Share #3 Posted November 29, 2009 Same situation here. I don't use the Colorburst RIP but I do use the ImagePrint RIP (latest version) with an Epson 4800. The Colorbyte profiles generally produce prints that are extremely close to the final image that I have created in Photoshop.
miami91 Posted November 30, 2009 Share #4 Posted November 30, 2009 I had avoided commenting on this thread since I also use ImagePrint (and not Colorburst), but I can echo the sentiments of the two above. I use a Mac Pro (OS 10.6.2), Epson 4880, and ImagePrint 7, and it's a wonderful combination. Will be upgrading to ImagePrint 8 soon. Jeff. melissah Posted November 30, 2009 Share #5 Posted November 30, 2009 i too use imageprint ColorByte Software - Home of ImagePrint i have an epson 4800 mac and mac 30" display. i havent upgraded to the current version of imageprint because it still doenst let me print through lightroom. so my workflow is. import to lightroom, correct, import to photoshop load paper profile so i can see what print will look like. make (usually minor) corrects to profile, save as, open that version in imageprint. i usually print on 17x22 paper. best melissa

Quoting myself because I neglected to clarify initially that I am using the ImagePrint RIP on a Mac Pro running Snow Leopard.
