Really nice page, Thorsten. I looked also at some others, and they are equally attractive.

When are you in Berlin?

It's most likely that the date for the seminar in Berlin will be March 2010 because we discussed it and some brought up an element I hadn't thought about: The weather.

Most likely the seminar in Berlin (and LA and NY) will be one evening followed by half a day or a full day of shooting in Berlin, then finished with an evening seminar few days later. There will be homework/assignments which can be done on the shooting day or any other time till next seminar. I guess we'll raid a Leica store as well, as we did in London :D

I'm keeping a mailing list of those who have expressed interest and will mail dates to all in a matter of weeks. I have you on the list and will also mail you if I come to Berlin before then. I love that city so I might.

50mm summicron is always sweet.. want 50 as 50.. aahhhh bw images are nice

There's many nice lenses - too many. 50/2, 50/1.4, 50/1.4 ASPH, 50/1.0, 50/0.95 ... each of them is a jewel.

What I really need in my life is a local Leica Library where I can go and pick up lenses and play with them. I don't like owning a lot of lenses, it tends to make life complicated.

I think the kit I will be going with is new 24/1.4, 50/1.4 and 75/2 but then keeping 21/3.4, 50/2 and 35/2. Might even get a new 35/2 ASPH as well though I think I'll be using the 50/1.4 the most. Ah, it's very confusing to try to know in advance. The right step might be one at the time, starting with one lens, the 24/1.4 ... or the 21/1.4 ... which is exactly where I'm at :D ...21 or 24.

First, love your site. Both the photography and your approach to your writing. I find that your writing on shooting with the M9 strikes the perfect balance between technical and philosophical .

Second, in terms of the 21 vs 24 Luxes: I've only seen images on the web but it seems to me that the 21 draws differently (angle aside) and in much a way that I like. Do you feel that there is a difference and, if so, how would you describe it?

Thanks.

I think you should not base a buying decision on this. These are both super lenses, and the decision should be made on the use you want to make of them. I bought the 24 because it is more of an everyday lens.

How are you liking the lens?

Thorsten, that's exactly my POV.

I owned many lenses till now, But I'm often a 1-2 or maximum 3 lenses man.

I'm stuck in the middle of some 50s as I like the 50 2.8, the 50lux(asph and pre asph) and that lovely Noctilux (when I can handle it).

Anyway, the reading was such a pleasure that I sent the link to some friends of mine who really need to read that! (they're not Leica users FWIW).

You made me think about them when you talked about "the camera that you really love"... I'm sure your point will help them wondering some... ;)

I'll give you a feedback.

BTW, by now, thanks a lot for that article. Really well done, with such passion and experience by your side. But that's not a news! :)

Maurizio
