Advertisement Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 Hi ptarmigan, Take a look here OKARO rangefinder filter - where can I get one?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
UliWer Posted November 3, 2009 Share #2 Posted November 3, 2009 For a II you need an ORAKO. It looks the same but is a little bit smaller than the OKARO which was for the IIIc or f. You have to try it otherwise you never know if you have the right one. The ORAKO has an inner diameter of 1 cm, from measuring I guess the OKARO has 1,1 They look nice on the camera, but I don't think they are really useful. If the rangefinder is good and contrasty, you don't need it, if it's not, the orange filter makes it even darker. If your rangefinder is not clear enough you might better look to have it repaired. A 70 years old II may need some healing of it's eyes.
luigi bertolotti Posted November 3, 2009 Share #3 Posted November 3, 2009 Can't find one anywhere. Are they very rare? Need one that will fit a II (D) See www.leicashop.com : <Leica> <accessories> <filters> they have both OKARO and ORAKO. I have one and sometimes used it on IIIc (many years ago)... it is appreciable only in some circumstances... strong light with certain foreground/background combinations of colors in which the filter's hue is of help to evidence the contrast of one to the other. Not a must have accessory... but is nice...
ptarmigan Posted November 3, 2009 Author Share #4 Posted November 3, 2009 Thanks a lot. Do they come in black, I've only seen them on chrome cameras and in chrome?
jc_braconi Posted November 3, 2009 Share #5 Posted November 3, 2009 ORAKO exists also in black.
ptarmigan Posted November 5, 2009 Author Share #6 Posted November 5, 2009 thanks. There seem to be a few chrome ones about but no black. Ah well, probably don't need one anyway.
