mingmac Posted October 28, 2009 Share #1 Posted October 28, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Im looking for something like what the pink part is. I like to have my Leica stays in my usual bag, not a camera bag. So im looking for something that can separate it from my other stuffs in the same bag. Any recommendations? Thanks. Advertisement Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 Hi mingmac, Take a look here I'm looking for something like this.. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
dpattinson Posted October 28, 2009 Share #2 Posted October 28, 2009 Not exactly the same - but you could buy one of the fitted neoprene cases, they work fine as in-bag protection.
firststream Posted October 28, 2009 Share #3 Posted October 28, 2009 An Eveready or Luigi case will take up the least amount of space while giving the camera enough protection within the purse. But shouldn't you just leave the purse at home, and sling the M6 over your shoulder instead? Personally, I find that much more attractive on a woman... bill Posted October 28, 2009 Share #4 Posted October 28, 2009 Aha... Now, I have done something similar with my work briefcase. It is the same size as a Hadley Pro (although made of black leather and much more suitable for "city" use. So. Option 1 - get a Hadley (or similar) insert that fills your bag and holds everything - then dedicate a single compartment to your camera. Or. Option 2 - Look for something like a Domke insert. They are the right size, but don't have bottom padding. I just fold up a handkerchief or similar and put it in there. I also agree about neoprene - see if you can get an oversized lens pouch or sleeve from someone like op-tech. Regards, Bill
wattsy Posted October 28, 2009 Share #5 Posted October 28, 2009 Like Bill, I use a Billingham insert from another bag (not sure what one) which I then place in another non-camera bag of my choice. I've tried the neoprene case solution but didn't find it very satisfactory.
haris Posted October 28, 2009 Share #6 Posted October 28, 2009 You can ge to kraftsman who make filling for furniture from foam or spunge or... (I am sorry, I don't know proper name on English, in my language is "tapacirung") and ask him to make one "container" from tougher spunge or foam or like for you? One thing that im really concerned is the lens so i think Luigi will not help me to protect that. And thanks for every suggestion, i will try to do some research more. richam Posted October 28, 2009 Share #8 Posted October 28, 2009 You may have checked it already, but Leica has an M neoprene case that may fit your needs, if not your budget: Leica Camera AG - Photography - Neoprene Case M
Sandokan Posted October 28, 2009 Share #9 Posted October 28, 2009 For an M with lens upto 75 'Cron, try the Artisan & Artist Rina bag. tgray Posted October 28, 2009 Share #10 Posted October 28, 2009 If you have a small lens attached, you can use a Zing neoprene pouch. That's what I do. For a larger lens, you could buy a neoprene wrap and wrap it so one end is open. I also just picked up an insert for a Tenba pro digital messenger bag ($20). I think it's bigger than you want, but has 3 compartments. I put it in my Timbuk2 bag and it works great. However, Tenba or Domke might make a one compartment bag insert that would be suitable for one camera. Something like this. The Tenba was a cheaper than the Domke inserts AND has padding on the bottom. However, there is only once size you can get, unlike the variety that Domke offers. earleygallery Posted October 28, 2009 Share #11 Posted October 28, 2009 I have a small Fila 'man bag' which is ideal for an M body/lens (it can hold a 2nd lens and spare films too but that bulks it out of course). It's about the size of a paperback book and if you remove the strap would fit nicely inside your larger bag - I use it the same way if I'm carrying a rucksack. think Posted October 29, 2009 Share #14 Posted October 29, 2009 Domke | FA-280 1-Compartment Mini Insert | 720-200 | B&H Photo Specs tab shows the external dimensions. The Rina or a big Zing is probably your best bet.
Craftsman Posted October 30, 2009 Share #15 Posted October 30, 2009 If they are like the Billingham dividers, they don't have bottoms. So, your camera could slip right through and end up in the bottom of your bag banging around with everything else
Finnkare Posted October 30, 2009 Share #16 Posted October 30, 2009 In general the Billinghams are better made than Domkes, I think. They also make separate dividers and also some spare bottom pads: Superflex Partitions & Other Inserts Plus little lens and camera pouches, but I got the impression that you liked this kind of solution better. Yet, if you find a camera bag which you find nice looking, you most likely can use the other pockets or remove some of the main pocket dividers to make room for the non-camera stuff. I just made the decision to transport my papers and other daily stuff in a camera bag (a Billingham 335, which looks like a "normal bag" and fits A4s easily), not vice versa. I got bored of every time trying to choose a camera bag big enough to hold a sufficient amount of camera stuff and tuck this bag into a backpack. Eventually there was only little room for anything else in the backpack and still the camera bag was very unhandy to handle, because it was at the bottom. I think my second choice would have been a Hadley insert inside a normal shoulder bag, because I couldn't attach those single inserts anywhere. I didn't choose a Hadley insert, mainly because I thought they weren't so adjustable and wouldn't provide any top protection.
