ckone77 Posted October 27, 2009 Share #1 Posted October 27, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) After reading many threads about which one to take, M8 versus M8.2 I just decided for the M8 in companion to my M7; so going travelling will mean, that I have both bodies and for easy body recognition the M8 in silver and the M7 in black; very satisfied with the 21 asph Elmarit and the travel E49 Tri Elmer I will leave the Nocti at home for special purpose; my last question would be the tele range; which 90mm would you take? The latest Macro, Elmarit or the Summi? I tend to the Summi, as I really like SHARP pictures... Now enjoying the M8 during my first USA travel week, Christoph (PS: nice forum!) delander † Posted October 27, 2009 Share #2 Posted October 27, 2009 Enjoy your new camera, I only have the 90 mm elmarit M which seems plenty sharp for me and not very heavy, cant comment on the 90 cron. Jeff

Guest mc_k Posted October 27, 2009 Share #4 Posted October 27, 2009 second that, Elmarit 90 is sharp. May be easier to focus wide open, too, but I don't have any first hand knowledge of the 90 2.0.
steamboat Posted October 28, 2009 Share #5 Posted October 28, 2009 I have the old tele-Elmarit f2.8 lens which isn't much bigger than a 50mm. Nice lens. Mine's been 6-bit coded.
wilfredo Posted October 28, 2009 Share #6 Posted October 28, 2009 Congratulations on your M8 purchase. The Elmarit M is sharp and it isn't bulky. I had one but sold it since I hardly used it. I now have an R Elmarit for my DSLR and I'm giving it lots of use. Cheers
wilfredo Posted October 28, 2009 Share #7 Posted October 28, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Here's one of my last shots with the 90mm Emarit on my M8. Both M and R share the same glass formula from what I understand.
epand56 Posted October 28, 2009 Share #8 Posted October 28, 2009 Wilfredo, I don't personally like the Macro-Elmar, I don't really make it to get the kind of focus I want with it. I'm thinking to sell it. I Have the Elmarit 90/2.8 that is a great lens and also the Elmar-C 90/4 that is very small and costed me no more than 250 bucks and that is dead sharp. I also tried the APO Summicron, but it is too much heavy and didn't like iy too much. This is an example of the Elmar-C 90/
