JHAG Posted October 24, 2009 Author Share #4 Posted October 24, 2009 After comparing RAW DNG files in LR3 and C1, I can say the following : - tones are much improved in LR3, especially in shots where a strong color dominates details in other tones : LR3 dissociates better the yellows or greys from greens, when C1 mixes everything with casts all over the place - micro-details are better in LR3. I compared a series of stuff shots, where rendering for felt or fabric was filled of micro-details totally lacking in C1. - noisy areas are much improved, with not a single artefact in noisy shadows, but rather a smooth filmy grain, thus better transitions. It seems Adobe has really improved LR3. I wonder what will be the comments of some others here.
mgcd Posted October 24, 2009 Share #5 Posted October 24, 2009 I totally agree with your observations on the improvements in LR3.

You need 10.5 or later according to the release notes.
hammam Posted October 25, 2009 Share #8 Posted October 25, 2009 Sorry, I have my answer. It's right there, in the release notes, and, no, you can't use LR 3 with OS 10.4. You need Intel, and 10.5. I knew it. Geez, I wonder when Apple will finally give in entirely to the horrors of Microsoft and Windows. Things went perfectly well with the Motorola chip. Who needed Intel? Just beat me by a split second, Steve, Thanks anyway.
stunsworth Posted October 25, 2009 Share #9 Posted October 25, 2009 Who needed Intel? Apple, they weren't happy with the future of the Power PC chips. Some details here... PowerPC - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
JHAG Posted October 25, 2009 Author Share #10 Posted October 25, 2009 Problem was mostly for mobile PPC chips, which heated more, limiting power in MacBooks.
