Noctilux F0.95 frame line not showing on M9

What exactly do you mean? The 50mm framelines shown for the 50mm f/1.4 also work with the Noctiluxes. Do you mean manual coding, perhaps, rather than framelines? If so, the new Noctilux was only ever made as a coded lens, so there is no need for manually coding it.

The framline was ahowiung on the 50mm 1.4 and 50mm F1 but not the 50mm F0.95. I have tried many ways but the framelines just not showing on the F0.95?

Which framelines show when you mount the new Noct? Maybe the mount is a little stiff, and it isn't clicking in right? Or maybe it clicks in too hard if you hold the button too long or it is sticky, and you are turning the lens too far? That would get you the 28/90 framelines.

 The lens selection won't affect the framlines, they are selected automatically when you mount the lens, one of the lugs engages with a lever within the lens mount and should bring up the 50mm frameline. What do you see instead then?

Here you can try online what you should see in your finder with different lenses attached. Click on "Rangefinder Fascination" and then on "50mm":

LEICA M9 rangefinder

It isn't completely different in reality, just much clearer:).

That's a very cool site, actually--I just forwarded to someone looking at rangefinders for the first time :)

My M9 and 50/0.95 work as expected - the 50mm frame is there bright and clear.

The only lenses you will find in the manual lens selection menu are Leica lenses which were not always coded. Newer lenses, such as the 28mm f2.8 ASPH, the two wide Sumiluxes, the Noctilux and the Summarits are not in the list because they have always been coded. The lens menu is there to select lenses as an alternative to having them coded and if the entries work for a CV or Zeiss lens, all well and good.

The only exception is the good old WATE which continues to be a thorn in our side. In spite of it being coded, it's in the menu and you still need to select the lens manually if you want it to put the correct focal length in the EXIF data.

Hi,

I was playing with all my lenses 28, 35, 50-1.4, F1, 75 etc on my M9, all framelines were showing on the view finder except the F0.95. when I go through the manual list of lenses, to my surprises that there has no F0.95 listed. Not sure why?

since this lens has few boundaries, it may

not want to be constrained by framelines ... ;)

Is it that the lens is somehow blocking the light that illuminates the framelines? If the main light source was in front of the camera and the lens was shadowing the patch on the camera, then perhaps the framelines would be too dark to see.

This is a fascinating site. However I noticed thay don't provide an aperture selection, maybe they are concerned it would show focus shift on the 35 Lux.

Yes, good point. The lens is so large that it partially obscures the frame illumination window., so it will depend on what light is available and the bottom of the frame (which is just a couple of short lines to make space for the LED display) will not appear.

Hi guys,

After I sent my 2nd e mail about the Noct framelines doesn't show, I have to leav to airport travelling to China and Hong Kong and no time to check inernet. Finally, I can check internet now. when I was using the Noct, the framelijese was just as the 28mm. I took the Noct off and on a few time and it had the same problem. I took it to the shop in HK and they found out that the ring on the camera has a little problem that does "click" the Noct properly whe I attached it. it is an easy fix and it is all fine now.

tks
