gdb Posted October 18, 2009 Share #1 Posted October 18, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Question: Do Epson P-6000 or P-7000 picture viewers support DNG files from the DMR? Their brochures say they support only JPEG preview embedded DNG format. Hence, do DNG files from the DMR have JPEG embedded preview? Thank you for your help Gérard
Advertisement Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 Hi gdb, Take a look here Espon & dng. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stuny Posted October 19, 2009 Share #2 Posted October 19, 2009 Gérard - Their earlier unit only supported JPEG, and I doubt they would have bothered to develop DNG-reading software for a discontinued system with such a small user base. I wonder if the 500 gram Sony Vaio, which has an SD card reader, would work well enough with Capture One to be a good alternative for you? Regareds to M & I. vikasmg Posted October 20, 2009 Share #3 Posted October 20, 2009 Question: Do Epson P-6000 or P-7000 picture viewers support DNG files from the DMR? Their brochures say they support only JPEG preview embedded DNG format. Hence, do DNG files from the DMR have JPEG embedded preview? Thank you for your help Gérard I don't believe the the Epson devices support DNG files from the DMR or indeed from the M8/M9. The Jobo device had some limited support for M8 files, (display of thumbnails only) but their current model Giga Vu Sonic seems to have improved on that. Their document says: >> Unlike our competitors which only display the embedded JPEG within the RAW image, we decode the actual RAW file. GIGA VU SONIC unique hardware RAW decoder allows it to quickly decode and display virtually any RAW image format ...: [and] Even if your RAW image format is not listed above, GIGA VU SONIC will still be able to backup, store and see the filename in the file explorer, it just will not display the image on the built-in LCD. << they list >> Leica .DNG .RAW .RW2 .RWL << among others. Not sure if that includes the DMR though. Check on JOBO AG international: GIGA Vu SONIC - Vikas
