peter_n Posted October 17, 2009 Share #21 Posted October 17, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) At this point, all Film Ms are now being sent to Germany for repair.Apparently the bloke who worked on MPs in Leica NJ retired in August, maybe that has something to do with it. thai.charlie Posted October 19, 2009 Share #24 Posted October 19, 2009 Sherry will repair Film Ms, and her work is terrific, if not better than the work once done by NJ. I have used her exclusively for the past few years unless it was a warranty issue. Yes, Sherry is great but she does not do digital M cameras, not even calibrating Noctilux to your M8. Alice MacRae Posted October 22, 2009 Share #25 Posted October 22, 2009 Last August 21st, I received the repair estimate for my 35mm Cron from New Jersey. "Repair diaphragm or aperture ring; Repair focusing mount; Clean optics as well as possible; Repair and adjust focus; Clean, lubricate, adjust all functions." The estimated price is $300 in 4-6 weeks. I told them to get it done. After all, it's cheaper than buying a new VC Color Skopar 35/2.5 Pancake II. Yesterday, I received word from NJ that all the repairs will be completed on November 18. That's 9 weeks! Either they must be really badly backlogged or my Summicron 35 is really badly damaged. Nothing I can do but wait. As a consolation I received today the battery well cover for my M6, that I requested when I send them the repair estimate confirmation. arthury Posted October 22, 2009 Author Share #26 Posted October 22, 2009 Mine has been gone for 6 weeks and still not in sight ...
moikle Posted October 22, 2009 Share #27 Posted October 22, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) My M7 was sent to Solms because the "Auto" exposure function stopped working and to have the contact-type Dx sensor replaced with an optical one. They said 3 - 6 weeks. Its been 3 weeks now and not a word. Sad Mine has just come back and it took just over 6 weeks. Mike
gwelland Posted October 22, 2009 Share #28 Posted October 22, 2009 Yes, Sherry is great but she does not do digital M cameras, not even calibrating Noctilux to your M8. DAG will do that ... and did a pretty fine job with mine a while back.
arthury Posted October 29, 2009 Author Share #29 Posted October 29, 2009 About time ... it came back after 8 weeks. The lens used to be front focused, now it is rear focused after they adjusted it. Oh well, ... just have to live with it or dump all red dot products in the Bay and call it a day.
peter_n Posted October 30, 2009 Share #30 Posted October 30, 2009 Leica NJ seem to be great for camera bodies but not the lenses. If you want it done properly send it to Don Goldberg. You will wait quite a while, then you'll pay. But it will be right.
fotografr Posted October 30, 2009 Share #31 Posted October 30, 2009 DAG will do that ... and did a pretty fine job with mine a while back. Ditto.
