Advertisement Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 Hi Guest suilvenman, Take a look here Yellow Flowers. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stuny Posted October 13, 2009 Share #2 Posted October 13, 2009 Ken - Flogged or not, this one stands out from the rest. Excellent for composition, light, color, detail and selective focus.

pauledell Posted October 13, 2009 Share #4 Posted October 13, 2009 Great composition, colors, sharpness and selective dof. Paul
biglouis Posted October 13, 2009 Share #5 Posted October 13, 2009 Lovely sharpness. I like the 'echo' of the sunflowers out of focus in the background. A well thought out and composed capture. LouisB

leicamann Posted October 15, 2009 Share #8 Posted October 15, 2009 I like the composition..but its overexposed... as a rule I try to never shoot my flowers in bright sunlight..never. Thanks for sharing Cheers, JRM
Guest suilvenman Posted October 15, 2009 Share #9 Posted October 15, 2009 Yes, I know exactly what you mean. The lighting was mid-afternoon but this was a "passing-through" grab shot: I could see the opportunity but, unfortunately could not wait for later lighting conditions. Many thanks for looking and commenting, JRM. Ken.
leicamann Posted October 15, 2009 Share #10 Posted October 15, 2009 Yeah..that happens.....
leicamann Posted October 15, 2009 Share #11 Posted October 15, 2009 I suspect that this is a scan..right.??.then you can "tone down" the image. Remember also the cheaper the scanner, the more your highlights and shadows will be"dropped". Cheers, JRM
Guest suilvenman Posted October 15, 2009 Share #12 Posted October 15, 2009 Yes ( all of my images are from film - mainly slide so far), but this scan was done professionally. I do have basic PS Elements3 to make fine adjustments but I find the latitude controls can quickly distort unless used sparingly. I have iMac so Aperture 2 is on the Xmas list. Again, your advice and comments are greatly appreciated, JRM. Ken.
leicamann Posted October 15, 2009 Share #13 Posted October 15, 2009 Right now I am using the "trial version" of Photoshop CS4...all I can say is wow, I am using Windows 7 64 bit and CS4 also has 64 bit and accelerated graphics support... I can chew through 1.5 gig files no problem...so that would be my recommendation....you can download the "trial version" from Adobe...and yes it is fully Mac compatable. Guest suilvenman Posted October 15, 2009 Share #14 Posted October 15, 2009 I'll maybe give that a try. Again, JRM, many thanks for your interest and ideas. Ken.
