On the south entrance road is a popular pullout for newly arrived visitors to look across the valley to the east at Upper and Lower Yosemite Falls (and the winter snow cone). If you turn to your left, very few folks do, the meadow is edged with evergreens and a long row of poplar trees. I have photographed this on every visit, watching the geometry between the two species change with the seasons and the years. Each time, someone always comes over to see what I am photographing, especially when I had my Hassie and tripod set up, and decides I must have a "really good camera" to see something they cannot see. This year was no different, but the challenge was to frame it so you do not see the patchy snow. MM 50/1.4 thank you, again, for looking (and reading!) kaethe

No snow, but I never tire of wandering along the Merced river in the stillness of winter to capture these reflections El Cap winter morning reflection along the Merced River MM 21/2.8 Just upstream from the previous shot is a frozen section of the river, that is always in the shade. A bit tricky to capture without sliding on the icy bank into the river and ruining my shot, as well as the scene in general. MM 50/1.4 25% crop Further east along the Merced is this beautiful bend in the river, afternoon light MM 21/2.8 thank you, as always, for looking kaethe

We just returned from a camping trip in Yosemite, unfortunately we were between storms, so there was only old icy snow on the valley floor, and nothing on the walls or trees. Oh well. Of course the storm is coming in this afternoon, as we are driving out, but our vacation is over. Half Dome from the Merced River, in late afternoon light MM 50/1.4 El Cap from the Merced River, early morning light MM 50/1.4 Half Dome with a sliver of winter moonlight, the clearest night sky, I could barely see to frame. MM 50/1.4 iso 640/8 sec El Cap from the meadow, the moon was only a sliver MM 50/1.4 iso 800 24 sec Thank you for looking kaethe

I shoot RWL raw with my D-lux 109. But the RWL files cannot be viewed in my iMac running Yosemite. I can see the images in both Lightroom and Photoshop and work with these files, no problems. But neither Preview or iPhotos can read the RWL format. This is bad because in Finder, the file size shows OK, yet dimension shows only 0 X 0. Therefore I cannot check them in finder. Is this just me? Or is this because Yosemite camera raw does not support Leica RWL format? Please help. Eddie
