I've learned over several decades that my photographs are better if I use a tripod. I'm more deliberate, contemplative, focused if I use a tripod. I slow down and I compose better. I take fewer, better, higher IQ photos. I enjoy the experience more than when I "spray and pray", which I've done plenty of in my earlier days in photography. To that end, I wanted to add an arca-swiss mount to my new Q. I have multiple tripods already setup for that mount and wanted to be consistent in continuing with that standard. I tried to buy a Really Right Stuff base, but so far that appears to be unavailable., I expect with the popularity of the Q, that will change. I hope so. They make great gear. During the interim, I found an arca-swiss base made by Desmond on eBay and ordered it. It's the Desmond DP-60 ($12.50) which is 60 mm long and seemed a good fit for my needs. I have the Leica half case which had the magnetic flap and catch concealing the battery compartment. It may be sacrilege, but I cut that flap off and the new base fits amazingly very nicely into the open base now. Longer term I plan to buy a 100 mm Desmond base which will then completely cover the open area in the case. This solution does require me to unscrew the base to change the battery or SD card. I'm not happy about that and I am looking to arrange a base to allow the battery compartment to be accessed. Hopefully some of you find this helpful. Feel free to ask questions.

Hi everybody, I plan to do tabletop down to 1:1 macro product shots in portrait orientation. Lens will be the 24-90 with an +5 and +3 achromat. My current 3-way head by Manfrotto does not work very well for that, so I was thinking about an the RRS L-Plate (seems the most elegant solution on the market). My idea was to combine it with the Arca Swiss P0 Head (versatile, would be kind of universally usable) and maybe later with an Arca Swiss Cube. Another option could be the Acratech ballhead. Now my question is: Does the L-plate fit the heads properly? Do I miss sth? thanks and best -e-

Hi all, I recently looking for a tripod for travel. I wish to have a light weight but rigid one. I am 183cm tall. Have looked a Gitzo GT1545T, it is high enough for me but the new designed legs are thick and nearly same as their traditional series 2 though it is series 1. I looked their GT0545T as well but the tripod is not high enough and always need to rise up the center column. Do you have any preference and what are you using? Thanks a lot.

I often use my Q2 on a tripod in combination with a Sirui mounting system. I also have the original handgrip mounted on my Q2. To securely mount the Q2 on the bullhead of my tripod I use the small Sirui TY-C10 plate. This makes a quick and secure mounting/demounting of the Q2 on the tripod possible. The problem is that the plate blocks the big screw of the handgrip. I have to demount the plate to be able to reach the battery and/or memory card compartments. In my view this is simply a design weakness. (Another designers weakness is that the screw-hole in the handgrip is not central to the lens (as it in on the camerabody). I have to use several accessories to correctly mount the camera in central position on the tripod). To make the access of the compartments easier I have cut a small piece of thin (sheep)leather (0,2-0,4 mm) and put it under the plate. Now the Sirui plate fits solid on the camera body and the screw of the handgrip can be used without each time having to demount the Sirui plate.
