I wanted to share/discuss the idea of using both the APO and Steel-rim reissue together. I had this opportunity for a few hours in Wetzlar 2 weeks ago. I have been the happy owner of the apo-summicron M 35 for a couple of months now. I am a 50 guy, but felt like using the 35 more and going out of my usual zone (of comfort). What a Lens ! Perfectly built (it feels much better built that the apo 50 for example), and with stunning results (see the first pic below, I had even no time to frame meticulously, just saw the light on the taller little girl and shot). Sharpness, 3D look, clarity and ‘deepness’ to die for. What a look ! Looking at the eyes at high res explains it well I think… Closer : The Leica Store Wetzlar let me play for a few hours with the steel-rim reissue. I like the size and the ‘opposite’ results (compared to the apo) I manage to get, particularly wide open. I think the pictures below are quite typical of this Lens. Gives the idea of using 2 identical bodies (as I did at film times with 2 speeds of films…), 1 for each of the Lenses, and use them at the same time, depending on what look one wants to achieve
