A miller Posted February 2, 2015 Share #1 Posted February 2, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Here are some run-of-the-mill reportage photos from the recent snow blizzard in NYC. The first couple are meant to provide some context of the brutality of the commute during the storm and the rest are some individual shots illustrating how we struggled through the harsh elements. Would love to hear if any are worth a hoot. I used my M-A, 28mm elmarit pre-asph and a combo of Tri-X and TMAX #1 Welcome, dear visitor! Guest Benqui Posted February 2, 2015 Share #10 Posted February 2, 2015 Perfect photos, I really like it! I really don't know, how you manage your film develoment to get such a good contrast and sharpness in your photos. best regards Marc
A miller Posted February 2, 2015 Author Share #11 Posted February 2, 2015 Many thanks, Marc. I actually think the pushing of the film decreased the sharpness and tonality relative to the shots I took last year that did not involve any pushing. It is all a trade off as the photo opportunities increase the faster the shutter can be. Thanks again and all the best, Adam. .

stuny Posted February 2, 2015 Share #14 Posted February 2, 2015 Adam - Excellent. Mother Jones just released an article saying, based on CIT and JPL research, that the huge pollution in Asia puts particulates into the air moving to the Pacific Northwest which make clouds bigger and seeds the clouds in the jet stream. With the warmer oceans making the air directly above the oceans provide extra moisture, non-tropical storms produce significantly greater precipitation, Even though the number of snowfalls in NY over the last 30 years has fallen the greatest individual storm snowfalls have all happened in the last 15 years. And, there was hurricane Sandy.
A miller Posted February 2, 2015 Author Share #15 Posted February 2, 2015 Many thanks, Stuart. I have heard these things as well and try not to think about it too much as it is really scary. We in NYC are essentially like defenseless sitting ducks in the face of a massive tropical storm. The answer seems to be to follow the path that was blazed by the Netherlands. Unfortuantely, I question whether our politicians have the foresight and fortitude to make this happen.
bruniroquai Posted February 2, 2015 Share #16 Posted February 2, 2015 Great series, did You find too contrasty the 28?
A miller Posted February 2, 2015 Author Share #17 Posted February 2, 2015 Thanks for your comment. I don't think I would say "too" contrasty. Keep in mind that I pushed the film to 1250 which will naturally enhance the contrast. I haven't compared it to the ASPH version, so I don't know how it compares relative to the contrasty reputation of that lens. Have you used this 4th pre-ASPH version and have thoughts on it? If so, I'd love to hear...
Sparkassenkunde Posted February 2, 2015 Share #18 Posted February 2, 2015 Hi Adam, this is a truly amazing series! I looked at the pictures over and over, and explored new things every time. At first sight, my favourite was #2 for the unique composition, but by now I can´t decide, if there is and which one might be the best. Thanks for sharing!
