richam Posted November 13, 2009 Share #1 Posted November 13, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) On the Athens Tram. M2, 35mm Summaron, Acros 100 in Emofin 5/5. Shock. Boredom. Curiosity. The last one bothers me. Such a beautiful girl, but for some reason she spoiled her appearance with a lip stud. Guess I'm old fashioned.

thompsonkirk Posted November 14, 2009 Share #4 Posted November 14, 2009 I especially like the startled expression & expressive hand gestures of the older woman in #1 - in contrast to the calm look on the younger woman's face. There must ne an interesting narrative behind this one! Kirk

Pedro Posted November 14, 2009 Share #6 Posted November 14, 2009 Like #1. Also like the series particularly due to your titles: Shock; Boredom; Curiosity. Congratulations for having guts to photograph strangers inside a tram.
richam Posted November 14, 2009 Author Share #7 Posted November 14, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks to all for the comments. As far as technique is concerned, only on the first one did I hold the M2 to my eye. They were so engrossed in conversation that they didn't notice me taking the shot. I had the impression that they were mother and daughter, mainly from watching them for a while. On the others, I focused first on an equivalent distance looking down the tram car, and then held the camera about waist level and pretended to be fiddling with the controls when I took the shot. The framing was a bit of luck. On #2, the subjects were used to being stared at anyway, since the lady's cleavage was attracting stares from all the guys on the tram car. The youngsters in #3 were likely on a date, perhaps their first, and were anxious to appear calm an sophisticated, even though quite nervous. I provided a welcome distraction for them while fiddling with the M2.
pauledell Posted November 16, 2009 Share #8 Posted November 16, 2009 Nice series. No. 1 is the best for the expressions. Paul
thompsonkirk Posted November 16, 2009 Share #9 Posted November 16, 2009 I've looked again & have invented a narrative to go with the first one: a good old-fashioned mother is reacting to a daughter, who's just said she's pregnant & has no intention of marrying the guy.
