echorec Posted September 7, 2011 Share #1 Posted September 7, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello friends, Just bought the latest addition to the Sony NEX line, the C3. Today I got the Novoflex adapter to try it with some of my old lenses (which was the main reason I bought the NEX). I find it really fun, focusing is easy (15xmag) and I am happy with the first results. As a bonus the camera is good in itself with a very nice kit zoom. I posted it here because I really enjoy the old classic lenses but I will also link to this post from the digital forum. Pictures are: Setup, 2,8cm Summaron @5.6 and 5cm Summarit @4. jc_braconi Posted September 7, 2011 Share #3 Posted September 7, 2011 Looks like there is a bit of back focus
ezc203 Posted September 7, 2011 Share #4 Posted September 7, 2011 The second image is really lovely. The soft rendering is just the right amount for me. Excellent set up. Would love to hear more about your experience with it.
ezc203 Posted September 7, 2011 Share #5 Posted September 7, 2011 Color on the second one looks great too. Good sensor? ....
luigi bertolotti Posted September 7, 2011 Share #6 Posted September 7, 2011 I agree : the second shows really a fine combination of a brilliant modern sensor with the smoothness of an old glass. The first, imho, shows that the venerable Summaron maybe is better to be a little stopped down... but is worth noting that the 1,5 crop makes the vignetting a non issue. Post some others... ... the Nex line has intrigued me from the start... ... I made just a single quick trial into a shop with my Summicron 35 asph... and not yet decided to buy one, but continue to think that is a smart concept of a camera... luigi bertolotti Posted September 8, 2011 Share #8 Posted September 8, 2011 (edited) Just a question... How is the LCD image when you have a non-luminous lens like the Summaron 5,6 ? Is it rather clear to have good focusing ? I wonder this because one of my sparse thoughts is to have a camera like this as a sort of "digital back" for long Telyts... (I'd need an extension tube - TZOON-like - but is easy to find) Edited September 8, 2011 by luigi bertolotti
echorec Posted September 8, 2011 Author Share #9 Posted September 8, 2011 Good question Luigi, The LCD screen is self-adjustning, so it compensates when you stop down or use a lens like the 2.8 Summaron. So the screen does not get darker when you works at small apertures. In that way it is better than a "real" analog finder.
echorec Posted September 8, 2011 Author Share #10 Posted September 8, 2011 Some more snaps. 1. Summicron-C 40mm 2. Summaron-M 35/2.8 3. Rigid Summicron Welcome, dear visitor! luigi bertolotti Posted September 8, 2011 Share #11 Posted September 8, 2011 Oh Oh really sounds good...like a lot the Summaron 35 pic... what kind of image setting did you use ? I mean, are they direct jpgs or RAW ? Have you something taken with "longs" 90-135 ?
echorec Posted September 8, 2011 Author Share #12 Posted September 8, 2011 Hi Luigi, just jpg out of the camera. Aperture priority.
echorec Posted September 8, 2011 Author Share #13 Posted September 8, 2011 Oh, and I will take some 90, 135 and maybe longer tele pics very soon.
pico Posted September 8, 2011 Share #14 Posted September 8, 2011 The red in the Summaron-M 35/2.8 photo shows the same problem I struggle with in a 75mm Summilux on an M7. Way over saturated. Blown away. Sensor issues.
davidmhol Posted September 8, 2011 Share #15 Posted September 8, 2011 Not my choice (I'm a film guy through and through) but I think a very intelligent use of nice lenses.

luigi bertolotti Posted September 10, 2011 Share #20 Posted September 10, 2011 Thanks Gunnar, both interesting... and... update your avatar, so we both have delicious daughters on the Net, taken with an old Elmar 9... I was this mornong in a shop with a Nex C3 on the shelf... ... but prefer to wait for the "first flood" of Nex 7 pics-with-Leitz-lenses, which someday surely will appear...
