Advertisement Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Hi Rolo, Take a look here Stranded. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
leicamann Posted January 4, 2010 Share #2 Posted January 4, 2010 Great shot...color palette comes close to Fuji Reala...I like how you spent lots of time either in Photoshop or with your WB or simply to nail the correct exposure..... by doing so you have brought out all the colour potential of the image. Thanks for sharing Cheers, JRM
AlbertoDeRoma Posted January 4, 2010 Share #3 Posted January 4, 2010 I love the composition and the colors. I am very partial to pictures of boat wrecks in general and this is a very good one. It would make a great print. Suitable for framing - as they say . Alberto

Rolo Posted January 5, 2010 Author Share #7 Posted January 5, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Great shot, what postprocessing did you apply to get the abstracted look? Dear Jaap, Didn't intend for it to look "abstracted" and I'd certainly wind it down a bit for printing. The M9 original had deep shadows and highlights ready to burn. I wanted to see how much I could push these and also how much I could crop and retain an image that would still have quality (crop for zoom), as that's a big benefit of the M9, for my purposes. It worked well, IMO and I'll be happy to use it in that manner. Levelled, expanded and cropped in LR3, then edited in PS using Shadows/Highlights with masks. Welcome, dear visitor! biglouis Posted January 6, 2010 Share #16 Posted January 6, 2010 Excellent series. I told you I'd see how you got on with an M9 before making any decision myself. Pretty compelling stuff, imho. LouisB
Hodc Posted January 6, 2010 Share #17 Posted January 6, 2010 What a dynamic range.. I love the perspective and PP, Rolo. The PP ads too the wunderfull 'abandoned' feel Where were these taken? Harry
elansprint72 Posted January 6, 2010 Share #18 Posted January 6, 2010 I think these are great, the only thing I'm not sure about is the light sky across the top of the B&W one, maybe it looks better with this darkened out? I don't know. The banks of the Irwell never looked so good. That M9 is not proving too much of a handicap, I see.
Rolo Posted January 6, 2010 Author Share #19 Posted January 6, 2010 Louis, Harry, Pete - Many thanks for your comments. Pete, these point and shoot M9 thingies make it so much easier than in your day. Here's another. Hope the boating enthusiasts have the appetite for all this. Welcome, dear visitor! azzo Posted January 6, 2010 Share #20 Posted January 6, 2010 The second one in colour is the best of the lot IMHO. Not only does it have a most pleasing composition but the presentation is the least digital. Meaning, closer to reality ! .... ... me thinks.
