Following on from the excellent attendance at last week's get-together in Palermo, it is time to think about next year (I am assuming that all the folk from last week have already sent their entries to Pete F... ;) )

Several locations have been suggested to various people both before, during and after the Palermo weekend and, following some off-line discussion, the following are now offered for consideration and voting.

Having been to southern Europe three times in a row, and Italy twice in a row, a more northerly European venue seems more appropriate. We have taken care to try to ensure that the locations are relatively easy to access from all parts, but it's difficult to tie in with everyone, of course.

So, please cast your vote for the preferred location of the One Challenge 2012.

Wetzlar / Solms was mentioned several times, btw, but it was felt that waiting until the new factory facility is open and taking customer tours might be beneficial.

Thanks Andy

Quite a few people mentioned Istanbul which we would love. But I respect that some people feel it's time for Northern Europe so I shall vote for one above. I hope we can consider Istanbul next for 2013?

If we leave our wifes home it won't be that expensive

So you _are_ agreeing to pay <grin>.

There used to be a challenge in the States, but as far as I'm aware it's died off. Possibly related to the size of the country and the difficulty of getting enough people in one place at the same time.

I couldn't open the link Steve, but I am in Tianjin, China.

We will miss the late injection of sunshine which Southern Europe has to offer (the weather in Sicily was great until the rest of the mob turned up) but will no doubt attend wherever is decided.

New York? No, I say Melbourne to give Erl a shorter trip for a change!

Wasn't there talk of London for the 10th anniversary? That suits me I have to say!

As for next year I'm keen to visit all the shortlisted cities, but I've cast my vote. Looking forward to it already!

I wonder what percentage of those voting so far (and those who may yet vote) have yet to attend a Challenge? And how many of those non-attendees who vote have any real intention of coming along and joining in the occasion?

Yes it's an additional expense and a day or so out of one's holiday allowance, but it's a great weekend and well worth it. Go on - plan ahead & take the plunge!

Hey!

What happened to Istanbul?

Whatever - I've voted - I was thinking that maybe people should have a number of votes depending on how many Challenges they've been on.

i.e. 1 vote if you've never been

2 votes if you've been once

etc.

Mind you - some of you guys might get RSI!

all the best

What happened to Istanbul?

Nothing - it's still there :)

Given that we have been to Southern Europe three times in a row, it was felt that more northern cities should be offered as a choice for 2012.

There's nothing to prevent Istanbul or any other city, being considered in future years.

I quite like your idea of "the more you attend, the more votes you have". As the only person to have attended every challenge, that would give me ten votes next year. Which would be handy. Now, that really IS democracy :)

PS - Don't forget the Charity Book we discussed ;)
