losinar Posted June 15, 2009 Share #3 Posted June 15, 2009 i've followed the instruction on the manual but seems that the arrow pad isn't showing the adjustment function, only "auto-flash", "forced-flash", etc are available for choosing my boss said he encountered the same problem as well and he used to be able to adjust the output before. we suspect that it happened after the firmware update!!! griffster Posted June 16, 2009 Share #4 Posted June 16, 2009 Ah, I can see how you can miss that. First of all, pop up the flash (of course you did!), then press ^ to cycle through the various options. It should be the third one. (first is exposure, second is auto bracket, third is flash) On a related note, I can't seem to find the "Program Shift" function anywhere. Am I stupid? Edit: The manual is wrong. It's telling you to push >. Never trust a manual.
Nicoleica Posted June 16, 2009 Share #5 Posted June 16, 2009 My manual appears to be correct, so here are the respective pages. 38 for the flash compensation, and 39 for Program shift. Happy button pressing. Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! rob_x2004 Posted June 16, 2009 Share #6 Posted June 16, 2009 I dont have P38, what is the routine to get to adjusting the flash? Ahh those black dots. Thats interesting. Maybe I dont have it on the earlier version of the camera. On mine the pressing the flash button which is on the rhs not the top, only scrolls through options, and hitting the other button goes straight into exposure compensation/auto bracket. The program shift has always been there.

griffster Posted June 17, 2009 Share #8 Posted June 17, 2009 About the Program Shift; I'm doing exactly what the manual says: as I'm pressing the shutter button halfway with my right index finger, I fiddle around with the joystick using my right thumb, trying not to drop the camera, but nothing seems to be happening. Which mode should I be in? Snapshot, Scene, A, S, P or M? Which direction should I push the joystick? Up? Down? Diagonal? Circular? Twist? Shake? Shout?
