cboudier Posted April 23, 2008 Share #1 Posted April 23, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, My L1 is brand new, so my experience is very limited with it, but I already suspect a problem NB : This only happen at iso 1600 or 800. It's like if the files was incorrectly written to the card !?! I can open these files with Lightroom, Preview or GraphicConverter, but not with Capture One, nor Lightzone (in fact, I can with Lightzone, but the image is completley purple). Even if I can open them, I can see that there is a problem (see B&W zebra on the right side)... I tried several times : always the same There is also a strong banding : is this normal ? Advertisement Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 Hi cboudier, Take a look here [D3 / L1] Problem with RAW file !?!. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jdlaing Posted April 23, 2008 Share #2 Posted April 23, 2008 I don't have that problem with my Digilux 3 or the L1. The Digilux 3 RAW files are a little different than the L1 files however.
cboudier Posted April 23, 2008 Author Share #3 Posted April 23, 2008 I also discovered that the numbers of pixels are different for corrupted files iso 100 to 400 : 3148 x 2350 (the "good" files) iso 800 : 3184 x 2358 (the "corrupted" files) iso 1600 : 3184 x 2366 (the "corrupted" files) Once converted to DNG 3184 x 2358 becomes 3164 x 2358 3184 x 2366 becomes 3164 x 2366
MJLogan Posted April 24, 2008 Share #4 Posted April 24, 2008 I get that row of weird pixels now and then in low-light conditions, too. It happens rarely enough that it has never concerned me. Perhaps I should ask Leica about it while the camera is under warranty. No banding issues, though.
cboudier Posted April 24, 2008 Author Share #5 Posted April 24, 2008 No problem opening these weird files ? What do you use ?
cboudier Posted April 24, 2008 Author Share #6 Posted April 24, 2008 The problem comes from my memory card... I tried another one and no problem ! Anyway, the fact that only iso 800 and 1600 images are concerned is quite odd I called Sandisk, they will replace my card.
MJLogan Posted April 25, 2008 Share #7 Posted April 25, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) The images open just fine in Aperture, except for the odd row of pixels. I don't use a reader--I just plug the camera into the computer's USB port. I'll have to do a test to see if it's a card problem for me as well--I have several, and don't keep track of what came off which card.
chkphoto Posted April 25, 2008 Share #8 Posted April 25, 2008 I have to say that I don't think it's a card that is creating the banding. Check out this iso 1600 from a raw file. I think it's the sensor. As mine is in Solms for the now frequent kit lens wobble, I sent the attached image to Leica, NJ and they are forwarding it to Solms to have them check my sensor while it's there. We'll have to see.
